I am in the market to buy a new boat. I am looking for something that is going to surf well as well as have a really good wakeboarding wake. I am currently leaning towards an 2007 Malibu VLX with 165 hrs on it in my price range. On the other hand I have always rode behind and been around Mastercrafts. But the only X2 I can find in the comparable price range has a lot of hours. What is considered a lot of hours on a Mastercraft and what kind of problems can I expect to arise after going over that amount? Fuel pumps? Transmission? Motor? All the input possible would be great.

How many hours does the X2 have?

It's really a question of how well the boat has been maintained. Does the owner have maintenance records?

A buddy of mine bought an 03 X2 with 450 hrs, and has put another 800 hrs on it with no major issues except a fuel pump replacement.

I have a 2010 X-2 with 150 hrs on it that was bought brand new last year. I actually use my boat... it doesn't just sit at home or on the lift.

Well maintained I would be comfortable with up to 1000 hours. A little over 150 a year for a 2006. I'd bet what youre looking at has under 600 though.

My X2 is low hrs but a buddy has an 06X15, same mechanicals with close to 600 hrs on it now. Fuel pump and rudder bushing are the only major repairs so far and it drives/works as well as mine w 130 hrs.
If the price was right I would get the X2.
