View Full Version : Transmission help!

Got into the 2002 X-Star last night, cranked great, music was good, and the ballast filled up. put it into gear to pull out of the boathouse and ... nothin. I tried re - starting, forward and reverse. nothing. Could not get it out of gear.

I have had some oil in the bilge that my mechanic and I thought was from the engine, maybe thats related here?

Hoping there is a simple fix. Any ideas?

Simply check the little dip stick on tranny, probably loosing it out a small leak at hoses.
Check the clamps.
Good Luck.

yep. dipstick is dry. Next step to go get transmission fluid, fill up and try it out? I feel pretty dumb with a dry dipstick, so don't let me compound the problem!

Might want to spot check at end of tour, just to monitor activity.
Take tools with, so if just float lounging, can spot check all clamps.
That's one reason I like hex head hose clamps, makes so easy to check with 1/4 drive ratchet & 8mm socket / extension if needed.

Have Fun.
