First off, very impressed that NOW you can see both the graphically % full for both tanks and bags, however I do have a question that made emptying the bags a real challenge. Here is what I did.

1. Filled all 3 hard tanks to 100% (BIG ballast graph showed 100% full and the total weight of 805lbs)

2. Switch to P&P bags (BIG showed 3 bags empty)

3. Filled the 3 bags to 100% (BIG showed all 3 bags being 100% full with the total weight).

4. Switch back from Bags to Tanks and emptied the hard tanks without a hitch.

5. Switch back to P&P bags and  all 3 bags now showed 0% (empty). Because the ballast pumps are controled by timers that automatically shut off when the BIG indicates either 0% or 100% to avoid over running the pumps (Which I this is great), BUT I had a heck of a time emptying 3 full bags 15 seconds at a time:mad:. Because the BIG reset the Bag fill indicator to 0%, this made the pumps think that the bags were empty. So I had to constantly switch on/off the ballast pumps to drain the bags.

Anyone know exacly HOW this system is supposed to behave? Is the P&P bags supposed to be filled last and emptied first to avoid a reset???. This information IS NOT mentioned in the 2012 manual as with a lot of other lacking information leaving the use to figure things out themselves.

I have the same problem with the system that I made for my boat...... My setup is slightly different than P&P (6 pumps, and vented bags that I did myself...). Nonetheless, everything fills perfectly, but the bags go straight to 0% when i try to empty them.

Not sure if it will help to empty the bags first...... but I am going to try that this weekend.

I didnt know that the BIG graph showed the P&P on the screen. I have the bags for my new X45 but have yet to install them. I have been told by many people that none of that even showed up for teh P&P.

How did you get them to show up? Does it show up with you switch the valves?

Please let me know what you find as I have that on my to do list over the Memorial Day Weekend

When you switch to P&P, the ballast graph title goes from Tank --> N/C ---> Bags. The X25 appears to be pre-programmed for the P&P bags for the X25. 2011 models did not provide any BIG feedback for P&P ballast, not they do.

Well I havent hooked them up yet so thats part of the reason why I havent noticed that. I upgraded to the xstar bags for my rear compartments so im sure I wouldn't get the actual amounts. Thanks for letting me know this

My dealer emailed MC about this problem.... It is a software glitch, and they are working on an update...

Hopefully MC list of software glitches is as long as mine. There seems to be a lot of quirks to fix. .

Has anybody a fix for this problem? Mine does the same thing. X2 2012

Heard the same, however we have to count on Medaleon to live up to their contract with MC even though they have been dropped for provideing the 2013 BIGs. So Im not sure how quick they will be to provide a fix. :(

Im not holding my breath... Who knows, I may just scrap the P&P and drop in some larger bags and use a drop in pump. May take longer, but for the amount of time I surf, its not the end of the world for me.

thats what we did...bought a few plugs and tsunami pump. The tsunami is pretty quick.

i don't have the Big and no p&p but the gdig Display jump from 90% to 0% only when draining my starboard Ballast. And this sucks. There are no Air leaks or kinked lines. The last thing i tested was changing the lenco Modul on the starboard side. But this doesn't fixed my Problem. i thought the lenco Modul counting the Ampere houres for the Ballast Pumps. Are there any other relays or something which count the ballast time?
Thx!

Your issues is related to the software problems people are having with the 2012 BIG/GDIG.

I was told that for 2013, MC is putting back the ballast sending units. I hope they put them back in the 2012s as well. IMO the 2012 are defective and do not provide a reliable reading.

bjames,

since youre in north america and thus somewhat closer to dealer/manufacturer, do you already have GDIG Firmware v0.24? Believing Mastercraft it's supposed to fix the ballast timer problems.
Oh and by the way everything went for me so far I'd be very suprised to see MC(Europe(GB)) change much on a sold boat, so probably no new sending units for us I guess :(

@jibber: our dealer is getting the firmware flasher with v0.24, hopefully it will reach us before end of season

Have you called and spoke with MC to find out what they plan to do to resolve your issues?

My MC service tech has no update yet as to when the softwware revision will be available. As for the sending units for the ballast tanks, I saw another thread that suggests that the sending units ARE installed on the 2012 boats, BUT they are not connected to anything - nor there doesnt seem to be anywhere they can be hooked up.

I confurm that's correct, I tooke the pictures, but don't know if you can plug it in to the big.

O.K. guys. I think i solved my Problem (Tank showing empty when itīs full). The problem was the lenco modul have an security thing that tells the gdig if the pump are running empty. And this is too sensible. It shuts the pumps up if any air comes through the pumps and the display jumps to zero. What you need is the gdig software update 0.20 or now 0.24. And then itīs important to change once time the options in the gdig menu from the tanks installed to no and hit Save and upload. After that change it to yes and hit save and upload. This upload the new informations to the lenco modul. Since i doing this my ballast timers work. Hopfully it will solve youre problems too. And hoping this was the problem. I have tried it only 2 times but i think it works for me.

if I understand you correctly, you're saying that the Lenco pumps have a switch that measures running current... and when it runs at lower current for any reason, it sends a signal to GDIG to say the tank is empty?

So do you know if the new GDIG version just ignores the lensco pump signal?

Jibber

Yes . Thatīs what iīm thinking. It measures the running current. I think the new Software version overwirte only the settings to a lower sensitivity.
