View Full Version : Bunks for X-Star on Boathouse lift?

I have been searching on line for 45 minutes with the help of Google....I can not seem to find anything.

What Bunks are you using on an X-Star on a boat house lift? A single 2x12 on each side...or (2) 2x12's on each side or a 4x6 on each side.....I thought this would have been a lot easier.

Thanks in advance.

I dont know the weight differences between an Xstar and X15 but for our X15 we use a 1x12 with 4x8 sister-ed to it so the bottom edges are flush. We had it on single 1x12s and after a season they showed some bowing outward.

This may be extreme but I also put my boat on a 4 ton lift just in case someone brings some fatties and i forget to empty the ballast when we dock it in the lift. Just saying.

Two 2x12's will float once it has been hanging for a while (yes I have double 2x12's). If I redo it, I'll go with singles.

I think I am going to go with (2) 2x10's on each side

Watch your fin/prop clearance. Even with the 2x12's, if I pull too far forward on the lift, my prop will hit the cross member. I now know to watch this and it's no longer an issue, but it sure got my attention one time!
