Anyone replaced factory clarion 1632 6.5 component sets with something newer- my boat is a 2003 x2. Middle white poly sections are coming unglued. (if you have them in a boat from that time frame remove grills and look at your front ones that face more upward on x2, 205, etc) i guess sun just damaged them over the years) The newer 1620s' seem like they would work but they are lower wattage - Don't want to drill anything that I don't have to.

I just replaced mine with exile 6.5s. They sound way better. I haven't figured out what to do with the stock tweeters. I just left them in there disconnected for now. I had to drill new screw holes for the exiles, but that was it.

I threw in kicker 6500 as replacements in my 01, but the holes
Did line up differently, the kickers have

Why don't they have seperate crossovers like the polks? Not sure if I went to something with external crossovers how I would secure them behind the gunwall

My 4 lower 1632's are OK. My tower speakers look like this: Dirty, I know, but I quit cleaning them when they started to look like a stop sign.

Edit: Replacing all 6 speakers with Infinity 612M's.

I will have the same dilemma. Not sure what to do with the tweeters other than to just disconnect them and let them sit.

I don't think anyone ever owned up to it, however it was more a defect than just age and UV exposure.

I have an 03' X9 and replaced all my stock Clarions with the 1620's about a month ago. I'm pretty happy with the turnout. Wanted everything to look clean. Check out Ebay for good prices and free shipping.

i ditched the 6.5"s and went with the JL 7.7"s i would suggest doing the same thing, you will be WAY happier!!! or JL makes 6.5"s also, if you relly don't want to cut the holes bigger
