I think it's a late 90s SN (from what I heard yesterday). Supposedly, it aired during Family guy on 5/6/12.

I saw that commercial and could not find it on Youtube! I think Eastie has it correct in saying its an 80's Ski Nautique. Maybe a 2001 model.. ???

I have not seen it. But my understanding was that it was a late 90s model.

Makes sense. They were still using Ford motors in their boats at that point.

I dont think it was late 90's. The curve wasn't right and the windshield was wrong for late 90's.

I noticed the bunks on the front of the trailer looked like the boards for the bow they used on the 80's models. I don't remember how recently they used those.

How can you tell? what gives away the year? The trailer has the old steel bar in front... the design way before boat buddy and windshield is divided in the middle...

Correct Craft stopped making their own trailers at some point before the late 90s. I have not seen a Correct Craft on a trailer with a boat buddy (but I suppose there are some). And late 90s Ski Nautiques ordinarily have two piece windshields.

IIRC it was discovery channel watching American Chopper.

I think it was 91-97 style SN and I think it had a slant back.

All I knew was it was how great ford was and how great it pulled this guys boat so i watched it twice and when I noticed it was not a Mastercraft I fast forwarded because I lost interest.

If my memory serves me, since it's been a week or so since I saw the ad, the windshield was not rounded on the corners like your pic. There were posts in the corners.

Thanks. Been pulling my boats with the same 2001 Expedition for years. The euro backed Nautiques were 91--96. Hull changed to the one I have in 97.

I don't remember. Most of our commercials are hauling horse trailers or boats and they all say at some point "ford is the best in Texas"

Surely the country doesn't get our commercials.

A "Republic" is a form of government.

A Nation is a community of people that share language, culture, and most of time geographic borders.

Maybe Empire would have been a better word?

The Empire of Texas? ;)

Here it is boys!! Play the F150 video!! I was wrong! Looks like a late 90's. 97 to 99. I will say that they never showed the last scene in the original aired commercial.

I couldn't see the motorbox or the tach.

Must easier to tell if you can see the bottom of the box.

Boy, that 98 box is kind of scary... My brothers 99 was much better looking than those two years. Just doesn't look as tall... IMO

I think your eyes are deceiving you. I believe the same motorbox was used 1998-2009. '98-02 were most definitely the same... the different vinyl pattern used '03-09 is playing tricks on my eyes, but I believe it to be the same as well.

The reason it looks tall is because it is open a couple of inches to get some circulation under there. The clamshell claps are loosened, but still holding on to the hooks. So it's about 2" higher and angled back. Don't get me wrong, it's taller than an early 90s MC box, but it's not that tall.

The all white vinyl with only the red piping as contrast makes it look larger as well. I absolutely love the vinyl pattern in my boat though. Would probably have never picked it, but now that I own it, I don't know that I'd want anything different.

Dont be so sure... you'd have to break out the tape measure to compare. CC did a lot of work in '97 to lower the motor in the hull. Combine that with the flat engine mounting (because of the 1.23 trans), and the end result is that the motor doesnt sit very tall above the floor. The box may appear taller than it is because of its proportions- its not very wide or long either.

Thats an old picture of the Crush, but not much has changed!

east tx skier
05-09-2012, 06:42 PM
Yeah, I know they lowered the motor that year. Makes for a lot of room in that closed bow.

MC wins the tall motorbox context with the supercharged 2003 model. Small picture, but you get the idea.
