Well my Dealer came through for me and got me some build pics today. Very exciting. Hopefully more to come. I can't wait for this boat to arrive! Enjoy.

Are the 30's outselling the 25's now? All you see I hear about are 30's.

Congrats on getting pics of the boat in build stage. When my 09 was built I was friends with both my dealer and Norm Krauss who is a rep and still couldn't get pics. (granted they both had much more important things to do). The lone pic I got was a random pic here from the forum that someone posted when everything but graphics were complete. Very exciting

Looks sweet 501s, have you seen the orange x30 in MMS showroom yet?

those sure are some pretty boats. Does anyone on here own one yet and have any feedback about the wake it kicks out? I heard it was made for surf, wake then ski......just wondering how that played out.

Sweet, We have a lime green one ordered up too, currently being built. Maybe its the one in the back round of the one pic. Ours is supposed to be here early-mid May. The wait is KILLING me.

Thanks everyone, I couldn't be more excited to get this boat. We will use it mainly for Wakeboarding (80%), Surfing (19%) Skiing (1%). I will post up all my results with the wake and different weights once I get the boat. We plan to put it through the ringer this year and rack up some hours!

Bjames, I haven't seen the X-30 at MMS yet but I don't need that temptation right now! Still a long wait to go...... I bet it's a nice looking boat though. Your X-25 on the other hand is just off the hook. That is one NICE boat.

skps190, that is awesome you have a lime green one on order. Orange and green were the colors I was going between. Hard decision to make!

501-I am digging the orange/black combo you went with, I noticed it on your other thread. We went green/black/white, we just kept going back to it. If our lake wasn't as dirty as it is black on the bottom would have been a good option. It took us longer to finalize the colors than to decide on the actual boat!

Hey 501. I am kinda curious why you decided to go with the X30, based on the above percentages??

Those percentages look like an X25 Customer. Phenomenal wakeboard wake, good surf wake, crap ski wake.

From what I have heard, the new X30 is more like- OK wakeboard wake, phenomenal surf wake, not terrible for slalom.

I guess there were a few reasons:
- I liked the space and storage of the X-30
- I really liked the reversable X-star like seat at the back
- Styling is new and unique. I like the curves.
- Price. i was able to negotiate a great deal with MMS.

I think that the deciding factor was that the owner of MMS gave me a performance garuntee in writing that if I am not happy with the wake I don't have to go with the boat. This was what put me over the edge. He also reported that the wake was excellent and very clean which is something I was looking for.

I think any weighted 23ft MC will make a good wake. I think that marketing it as a surf boat just makes sense. Everyone wants a "surf" boat. Every salesman at the boat show started by talking about surfing and how well their boat surfs, and most never even mention wakeboarding. I will be posting up pics/vids once we get the boats figured out and the engine broken in. Going to be a long 3 week wait.

Notice the 5th picture down. Chines are filled with a filler?! I have no idea if this is good thing or bad? I would lean towards cheap, but who knows?

Better to be filled then not at all like other brands.

04-28-2012, 05:19 PM
It's VERY difficult to roll fiberglass into small areas, the chance for air voids becomes really high when you do that. Your choices are basically to spray chop in there (also good chance of air voids) or to fill them.

sand2snow22
04-28-2012, 06:26 PM
Good to know. I've seen some pretty nasty wrecks which have exposed the filler. Just seems they could put something better in there? But like you say, better filled than not.

The other choices are foam coring material (expensive) or balsa (rot) and any type of coring is going to increase production time per hull...

501s
05-03-2012, 02:13 PM
Thanks Hellgrad. I wasn't really an "orange" guy too but with the Mastercraft colors that's what i was drawn too. When it's actually in the water most of the orange on the hull will be hidden so it will looks more like a black boat with Orange accents. If MC had a nice light blue I might have done that (Like my previous boat) but I am really happy with how the Orange has turned out so far.

And I'm really pleased that MC has gone through the trouble to send out the build pics. My buddy is getting a new Moomba built and they now have a new policy starting this week of NO pics during the build process for either customers or people touring the plant. When I had my Moomba built in 08 they sent build pics so when he got the email saying they were not going to be able to send out pics he was pretty disappointed. I know it's a pain for MC to send them out but I truly believe that they are worth the money spent on the labor for an employee to take them and email them out. A happy customer goes a long way.

It's funny that Mastercraft is going out of their way to take pictures for you. When I asked, they said they might have someone free that could maybe take pictures as a favor. I never got any photos. I got a call that my boat was supposed to start production in a week. Then I didn't hear anything for 3 or 4 weeks. My dealer was even calling trying to get more info. Then I got a call saying that my boat just showed up at my dealership with no notification.

501, I'm really liking the silver flake going around the back. It should look awesome when the sun hits it. I got an email from my dealer this morning that ours has arrived. Great news, only problem is its about 2.5 hrs away and with an extremely busy weekend coming up I won't be able to get there until hopefully next week sometime. I feel a "slight cold" coming on, I may have to take monday-Wednesday off to get over it. I'll get pics up ASAP.

I am salivating on my keyboard over all these sweet X30s. Glad the economy is treating you guys nice. The one that i Ordered is one that he had reserved but had not yet been put into build status so we could change the order to something that I wanted. He also mentioned that there would be a price increase for 2013 with no changes in the boat? This is my 6th boat from Portland Ski Boat Center so hopefully he is not feeding me full of *@#!

Wabamum usues a pay machine that takes credit cards, similar to paid parking. I think its only a couple of dollars to get the parking pass. I usually get a annual pass that I leave on the dash. The annual pass is only about $40-50.

I wonder if Sylvan has annaul passes?

Just called there. They said there was too much abuse of the season passes last year (people passing them around), so they went to a 10 punch pass this season. Cost is 330, so $33 a launch instead of $40.

The launch in Sylvan is owned by people only interested in building multimillion dollar condos, let me be very clear on this. They "told" the town (i think it's more blackmail) that if the town didn't pass their building permits they would NOT open to the public.

They did not however tell the town they would be doing the follwoing:
Jacking the rates to $40/launch
NO Annual Pass (I have had one for almost 10 years)
Jack Up slip rates.
And to me the biggest is the gates are locked between 9pm and 9am so that means NO EVENING OR MORNING boating. Seriously? If you go out in the evening you are trapped and have to load across the lake at another launch.

Last year I was the #1 user of the launch so I have a vested interest. I followed this very closely and attended town meetings and all I can say is that they have NO interest in whats best for anyone but their own financial gain. Locals and tourists aren't even wanted unless they want to buy a waterfront condo.

Oh ya, did I mention they have plans to NO LONGER have parking for the public? Ya, thats right, you will just have to find "some place in town" to park your truck and trailer until they get their parking lot and shuttle service on the other side of town going. Now after launching and paying $40, you have to drive across town and catch a shuttle back. Boating for the public on Sylvan Lake will never be the same.

Good news (for me) is I now have a slip in the ONLY private marina that's actually gated and locked and kept up.

Also about their "Pass Sharing", this was never a problem for 25 years. Its just an excuse to charge locals more, trust me.

One positive thing that may come of it is less Wally's on the lake though...

Hi scott03, Yes, I live right in Sylvan and yes you are right, we will see a lot less wallys/tubers on this side of the lake. The thing that bothers me most is their total disregard for the users of the lake.

Oh ya did I mention that all the owners of the Marina are from BC and none actually live here? Oh and all 3 of them own Malibus and from what I was told have a stake in the bu dealership in Kelowna.

Nice, what are you riding behind until you get the X30?

All I know is I liked the marina a lot more when Gordie was running the place. It wasn't all business then... it is what it is though. We can't do squat about changing who owns the land. I see they have three Bayliner rental boats there this year. That's going to be a crap show...

Currently riding behind nothing :) Watching all the other boaters from the pier. X-30 will be here friday.

I agree, the Marina was much better with the last few owners then it is now. But like you said, it's privately owned and they will do what they want. I actually like the guy who is running the Marina, but they are not honest people and have one goal with that property, profits on condos.

They had those Bayliners last year too. It was hilarious watching a family of 10 who have never boated and don't speak english trying to drive that thing out of the Marina and bring it back in.

Yes, Louis seems like a decent guy, but as you said, the hidden (not really) agenda is wrong.

I was told that they weren't going to do rentals this year because of all the headaches last year, but they obviously changed their minds. Wonder if they'll have the 'toons out too?

Holy!!! Wabamum is looking better and better :) None of that hassel here, however it does have its share of idiots that cant read the signs. Wabamum has tons of parking paved trailer parking and a huge overflow that can fit 3 long rows of trailers, but the problem is that non-boaters park their minivans/bmws in the "boat trailer parking only" lot to stay for a picnick. If they would read the signs, they would see there is vehical parking right beside the day park that is almost empty. Otherwise a quarter of the trailer stalls are taken by non-trailer vehicles. However the launch can be VERY Entertaining at time :)

Your launch sounds like an absolute treat compared to what we have.

Sorry for the rant, I just wish that it was more important to the town and land owners to have a good functioning marina for the public and residents of Sylvan Lake. It would be my dream job to own/run that marina. I used to think they were missing out on opportunities but now I know what their actual agenda is so the "Marina Business" is just a means to and end.

Scott, do you live in Sylvan too? Do you happen to know my neighbor Wayne from castaway? Great little skier.

I absolutely do live here. Been here for 5 years, and have no intention of moving. Own a local business, wife teaches here too. I do know of Wayne, but have had a lot of interaction with Kerry at Castaway. Great people there, from what I can tell.

Ours is rank. That's why we got a slip in the marina. Can only take the lines ups, and complete stupidity on the launch for so long before you need to make alternative plans.

That's awesome Scott, I will definitley see you out on the lake. Do you ski or board? X45?

I got a slip in Marina Bay so I am pretty excited.

What business do you own? I'd like to try to support it!

All the people at Castaway are great people. Its a good old fashion small town sports store in my mind. Wayne who is blind is an excellent skier and barefooter. He used to compete a lot. I remember he took me out when I first moved here on his Malibu (my first inboard, which was mind blowing at the time) and showed me some barefooting. He literally pulled out his glass eye ball and threw it in the glove box before he skied. Good times. I was wakeboarding on my new $150 costco board. Now that thing was a piece of junk lol.

LOL, I pretty much just surf now. Too many bad wipeouts on the wakeboard. Wife thinks I should retire. :rotf: Yes, we have a red fire flake and silverflake X45. Slip C4.

Castaway is awesome. I support them as much as possible, we need to keep guys like that in town. Forget about Walmart and Canadian Tire. That's awesome to have start up memories like that. Hopefully my kids will be able to share similar stories when they're older.

I own Total Control Security in town. We specialize in Digital Surveillance and keyfobs. I do work for a lot of the local businesses and all of them are great. I really like this town and always try to support them.

I know your 45. Have admired it from a distance on occasion :). Very nice boat.

We just got home, are having some supper then hitting the lake for a couple hours of break in. Here is a sneak peak. many pics to come! I'll start a new thread tonight. Now it's time for some lake action! The boat so far has exceeded my expectations as has Martin Motor Sports. Top notch all around.

Well we didn't make it on the water, wind blew us off before we even launched but here are a few pics of the interior. Hitting the lake tomorrow, will get some more pics of the exterior. It's a big boat.

WOW, the boat looks awesome!
Sad situation with the marina. My neighbour who's inlaws own businesses in Sylvan were telling me about what's being going with the new marina owners. It'll be interesting how this season goes with their new rates and what not.
