Just bout a 2009 Tournament Team. We took it out today and I noticed the bilge kept pumping a lot of water out. Any ideas of why I could be taking on so much water? The plug was tight. The only thing I can think of is changing the shaft seal? We did not take on any water from the interior. It has to be coming from below.

Did you ever look under the hood? Many opportunities around the engine for leaks, as well as the shaft seal.

Could be rudder port. Also check other place where you have man-made holes.

how about the raw water cooling hoses or the rudder? just a guess i have no idea how long the dripless shaft seals are suppose to last.

Hose or engine drain block .... Start it on the trailer and see how you do ......brith the garden hose attached of course ..

Had a similar problem with my 2000 prostar 190 the first few times I took it out. You guys will laugh at this. Bilge was pumping about every 10mins. repacked gland, greased rudder port, sat it in the water, ran it, no leaks. Took it for a spin down the river and after 10mins had water in the bilge again??? When the perfect pass was put in the speedometer hole in the dash, one speedometer line from the back was obsolete going to the brainbox. A dirty rat ate a hole in it behind the fuel tank so every time I was moving at speed it sprayed water out behind the tank. My speedo worked fine still on the other line. Tricky rat. :)

You might be able to fix it by simply tightening the packing nut. Loosen the jam nut, then tighten the packing nut, tighten the jam nut again.

a 09 would not have the old traditional rope packing.

I have a 97 prostar 190 with some extra water in the bilge this year! Can someone post a pic of what i need to unloosen/ what i need to tighten to see if it works?? My packing on my propshaft, should operate just like a valve stem packing correct? or no?
