Clarion XMD3 not firing

Bought a used Clarion XMD3 which was working in the previous owner's boat but I cannot get it to fire up at all. I've installed a stereo or two before but I want to be sure I'm not missing something completely boneheaded. At this point, all I'm trying to do is get any type of power to the unit. I know once that is done that the speaker, amp, and remote wiring will be easy.

Just to confirm, I've got:

Red stereo wire ---> Positive battery terminal
Yellow stereo wire ---> Negative battery terminal
Black ground wire ---> Negative battery terminal (I can't get it to a good ground spot)

I've tried hitting the tiny reset button near the CD door but still get nothing.

Any ideas?

Yellow stereo wire ---> Negative battery terminal

Yellow wire goes to the positive side of the battery. I believe yellow is unswitched + and red is switched +

Yellow wire ---> Positive...not negative.
