I just bought a 2011 X25 with the 5.7 Ilmor and was curious how many of you X25 owners swapped out the stock prop. Did you see a huge difference? Thanks

Yes, we did some extensive analysis on the different props available and ended up with the 5-blade OJ. We found you can't really go wrong with an ACME 1285 either.

You can read more about it here: http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=43948

Anyone have any insight here on the 6.0 X-25?

Is the acme 1285 very similar to the oj 14.75 x15.5?

No. The 1285 is a 14.5 X 14.25. We make a 14.25 X 14, 14.25 X 14.5 and 14.75 X 13 as well as the 1936-2 and 2012-2 5-blades for weighted applications.

Here in Colorado, we have been very happy with the Acme 1285 (14.5x14.25) on the Ilmor 6.0. The OJ 14.25x14.5 does a good job too, but the Acme is snappier. I have not tried out any 5-blades, but I would like to.

what application is best for the 14.75x15.50?

I have a 2010 X25 SS with the Indmar MCX. What prop would you recommend for that?

It really depends on your application. If I recall you are in the sea with yours. Do you have to travel a long way at full speed to get to your riding spot? The reason I ask is that the lower pitch props really help the wakeboarding performance but aren't so great for cruising.

Given the MCX is pretty equal to the MV 8 5.7 in our boat I would say the ACME 1285 or OJ 5 blade that we use would be good if you want the boat to perform better with weight.

Interesting. i am indeed on the Mediterranean. I guess i do a fair amount of cruising (sometimes 45 mins - 1hour each way. I often do around 30 mins of travelling to get to a riding spot if the open sea is not suitable for riding that day. I never gun it at full speed because mileage goes way down. My performance is definitely lower than other forum members (My top speed is around 35-37 mph) due to the fact that i have bottom paint (anti-fouling).

What exactly do you mean by the boat performing "better" with weight? are you referring to acceleration or top speed?

I believe that there is a pretty hefty thread on the OJ 5 blade here and on wakeworld. Thus far, I love my 5 blade. Smooth as can be for pulling and I hit 43 MPH at WOT via the speedo in a pretty good chop. Supposedly, I will get better gas mileage as I have noticed the RPMs drop lower while pulling.

I only saw 37-38 MPH at WOT with the 5 blade with a GPS. You might want to double check your speedos with a GPS and adjust your speedo if needed. My speedo was off by a considerable amount from the factory.

I have a 12' X25 with the 6.0
My stock prop was the #522 14.75x15.5 110 cup.....I didn't like it, too high RPM's. I am a family boater who takes long boat rides in between sessions and I do not add extra weight to the boat.
I tried the #524 14.75x15.5 170 cup, it lowered the RPM's down about 400rpm's on the top end but lost quite a bit of whole shot. I've read a lot of good things about the OJ 5 blade but I am hesitant to try it having not heard of any experience with it on a X25 6.0.....anyone with the 6.0 tried the 5 blade?

I ordered the 5-blade OJ for my 6.0L Indmar X-45. Should be here next week. Will report back the findings.

I ordered mine with the 6.2 and high altitude prop/powe prop. I plan on adding a lot of weight and use it mainly for wakeboarding. Boat should arrive next week and I will let you know how it goes.

Acceleration and time to get on plane. With the 5-blade both of these got significantly better on our X25.

No. The 1285 is a 14.5 X 14.25. We make a 14.25 X 14, 14.25 X 14.5 and 14.75 X 13 as well as the 1936-2 and 2012-2 5-blades for weighted applications.

eric - i called a few weeks ago and spoke to you about the 2012 - is it out yet? i need a spare.
