Trying to calculate what is needed for a boat hoist. What does a 1999 230VRS weigh? How much should be added for fuel and misc?

Dry weight is 3,300. A full tank of fuel (61 gallons) is around 360 lbs. A battery is another 60 lbs or so. I'd add another 200-500 lbs to cover miscellaneous gear.

a 5000# lift should be about right to be safe

JerseyDave, I went with a 6,000 LB lift for my 2001 230 VRS and I have no regrets. I figured that going a little larger would allow me not to worry about how the boat is loaded and not having to worry about completely flushing ballast. Also it doesn't labour when lifting the boat at all.

I'd rather buy the lift and know that it will also support whatever boat I may end up with next.

Thanks for the help guys. 6000 lbs it is!. Thinking also of spreader bars and 8' rubber straps. Might as well compound cables while I,m at it.

Should be 8" not 8ft straps
