Looking at a 94 w/ 240 hp and no slot. C36 history thread stated the additional drad of the hull design and no slot gives a "weaker pull". I have a short set up for my course. Any input would be appreciated. I am a 34 mph skier. Thanks.

If its a 94, it should have 285 hp. You should be ok. I ski behind a 92 with 285 and has plenty of get up in our course. I personally think the "drag" issue is BS, having skiied the 91-94 as much as I have. The 91-94 hull with 285 hp has way more holeshot than does the previous hull with 240 hp, and i ski behind both. Go with a 12 pitch CNC prop (acme 541), and it will get even better.

Engine options for 1994 were either a 275 hp TBI Chevy 350 or a 310 hp LT1. The 285 hp 351 HO was not offered in 94. Not sure if that was a misprint by the OP and he meant to write 91 with 240 hp. Either way, it should be fine. And if it's not (for him), it's nothing that can't be fixed with an Acme 541, some GT40 heads, and an intake. But that TBI motor is a good one.

Owner doesn't know his boat that well, but is a heck of a nice guy. His mechanic is calling me later today and has known the rig since new. Has a "stainless prop" according to the owner. He thought it was stock, wonder about that one as well. He didn't know if it has a "slot" or not either, so I guess the mechanic will be well worth speaking to. Anything else specific I should ask? Thanks guys, I hope to get this boat or one othe one I have my eye on within a few days.

If you have the Hull ID, we can answer some of these questions sight unseen.

I do know that the stainless prop was stock in 1992 for non-slot, other years I don't know for sure but I would imagine it to be likely for 93 and 94 non-slot.

My 93 205 came stock with a 3 blade OJ NiBrAl 13x13 prop. A stainless prop isn't mentioned as an option in the 93 brochure with the exception that the 190 Ltd. lists "polished underwater gear" as standard equipment. Not sure if that meant stainless, but my bet is that it was.

My 91 had a factory stainless 3 blade 14x18 because of the slot. All 3 blade 1:1's I have seen have been Nibral. Of course, its long since gone in favor of a 4 blade CNC OJ.

Also, as stated above, in 94 all engines were GM based EFI. No more fords/carb motors after 93 for MC.

you sure you want to buy a '94? It will spoil you for every other boat...

Well, I bought it. Picking it up on Friday. It did not have the slot unfortunately, but I think I will try it and if it needs re-proped that can happen. I have been looking for 2 years for the right boat and this one has 90% of what I wanted. I am a freak for condition and care and this one is as good as I have seen. It has 425 hours (2 owners) and the owners were anal, shoes off, never stored outside type owners according to the mechanic.
Now I need to get serious about selling my 75 Stars. Hard to think about, but 3 boats does not make sense.
Thanks for the advice and input. This site is ALWAYS worth visiting.

Sweet! Good find regardless, you will not be dissappointed. An Acme prop would be a worthwhile upgrade regardless due to the smooth nature of it.

So it really was a 94? Then its a GM EFI motor. For a slalom skier, you could not ask for better. Contact Eric from OJ about a prop, he rates his props on how they feel to the skier.

Yes it's a 94 with the Chevy 350 275 HP Fuel Injected. Course skiing is ALL I do. Getting pretty excited to pick her up. A little bitter sweet, my 75 has "cool factor but I have been out sking the boat for a few years and it's time. The 94 fit my strained budget well. My Real Estate business has had some tough years the last 5, so things that used to be an option are not that way anymore. A wise friend once told me "the key to happiness is being gratefull for what you have, not wanting more than you have". I'm pretty grateful for the past with my 75 and very grateful for the new purchase. I can FINALLY stop looking at the Craigslist/E bay thread 10 times a day. Can't say I will stop lurking the swimsuit thread though. Hetro, through and through.

I will post the pics. soon. Going to pick it up tomorrow. MG..., I am really "West" I suppose. Never understood why Chicago would be called Mid-West. To me, West is California and Mid west should be the middle part of the country Kansas, Colorado etc. I am in Colorado on a small private gravel pit.
