Need to replace the rope in some mooring whips and need some for around the dock stuff.

The rope I've gotten locally is worthless. I'd like to find some more of the stuff that came with the mooring whips, strong, flexible, seems to be twisted braids. A lot of the hardware store rope around here is the kind with a woven outer layer and "fuzzy fiber" inner core. Crap.

What type of rope should I be looking for? twist-braided nylon?

You should really talk to the guys at Slide Anchor. I got a bunch of mooring rope from him, because he was straight forward and honest. More than reasonably priced too.

Was at Lowe's last night getting some other stuff, and they had some solid braid composite (probably nylon) rope that looked and felt exactly the same as the rope that came with the whips.

We'll see how it does. Hard to beat at $17/100ft.

Haha gotcha.

I already have several proper "dock lines" for the MasterCraft. Just need some ROPE from which to make DOCK LINES for my john boat, bass boat and mooring whips.

We just take the 15' sections off of our mainlines. Convenient, strong and they last forever. Also, less crap laying in the boat to tangle stuff in and trip on.
