Wire size for speakers and lights

I just purchased an additional pair of MC can speakers with lights to add to the tower. What would be the appropriate wire size for the speakers and lights? Since I never fold down my tower is there any reason I should install a plug connector about half way up the tower as done from the factory? Any advice on which dash switch to wire the lights into?

I am helping a friend wire speakers into his tower. I chose 14 AWG for a less than 25' run.

I think 14 or 16 gauge would be fine for speakers. The nice person that owned my boat before me rewired everything with 14 gauge. Works for me.
