Thinking seriously about ordering a new boat. Primary usage will be wakesurfing and just cruising with family and
friends. I currently have an 08 X-2 which has been ok up until now but its not that great for wakesurfing, just ok. I had my mind set on the X-25 until I just saw the new X-30 on the website and the few videos that are in circulation. Now im really confused.....Thoughts????

There hasn't been a lot of info on the surf wake on the new X30, but I'm guess it would be better then the X25.

Do you ski or wakeboard? If you ski, X-30. If you wakeboard, X-25. I have not surfed an X-30, but the X-25 is decent. However, the X-25 I have surfed was not as impressive as the Centurions or Malibus I have surfed. But keep in mind I am a novice surfer at best.

X-30 surf wake looks like it will be hard to beat

That's pretty nice for just 700 lbs of ballast.

With so little information on the X30 out there I would test drive them both thoroughly before making a decision. It's going to be hard to beat the ride of a 25, but it's no sportscar when it comes to handling, whereas they're pitching that as a strongpoint of the 30. It's also going to be hard to beat the stock wakeboard wake of the 25. 30 will probably be easier to trailer. I think the price difference is going to be significant too.

Plus, you can fork pickles with one, whereas the other would be point(less)

Oh... didnt think of that. Makes perfect sense.

That's just what I've been told by 'williamstown' - he had a star which is within 50lbs of the 30's dry weight and he moved to a 25 and said that noticeably didn't trailer as well.

Does it? Seems strange that a 23' would weigh less then a 21.5'. I hadn't even looked.

We primarily wakesurf. We wakeboard some but I'm sure we will more because my 5 year old son wants to start wakeboarding. We rarely ski at all.

OP and I talked this morning and one of the first things to do is find an X30 to test, if there is one to be tested in this area. He has an open build slot, but it needs to be filled soon. As he mentioned, mainly surf, I would say 95%, the other 5% would be kids and beginner/intermediate wakeboarding, and then general lake cruising.

Vision, this boat will be kept at LKG. Does your neighbor still have a 25?

After looking it says the X25 is 4300 while I know my X30 is 4600 I can't see where the newer 30 would be less but who knows.

Weird... I swear I remember the dry weight of the 25 at something like 4800... Guess I'm wrong

Yes, but they are in Europe until mid-May.

Good length and good push. Image is stock ballast plus 4 people. Cut down a teak platform, instead of using the fiberglass platform, and the wave would be better.

OP may want to drive to Vonore. MC told me that I could come to Vonore and test drive an X-30 if desired. May do so at the end of this month. I may travel to Orlando first to check out the G23.

Just drove/surfed the new X30. Awesome wave! The X30 is 23' vs. the X25 at 21'6" so more room and storage in the X30, better surf wake on the X30, and I really liked the center seat that faces backwards.
That being said the X25 is still my favorite boat, rear facing seats, center walk-over, great wakeboarding wake, best riding 21'6" boat in rough water ever, picklefork bow, still a great surf boat too.

Drive both and figure out what works for your situation.

Man that G23 is pretty sick looking. I would add that to the list but I am being told that I would not be able to get one in time for summer. Thats a deal breaker for me.

X30 may do everything better than the X25 wake wise. And is lower priced too I believe. AFAIK, the new X30 shares little with the old X30 in design.

The only thing I see that is even close to the old 06+ X30 is the seating layout, some what.

The new X30 has the gullwing front seats, it appears to the rear seat like the new Xstar.

I'd love a chance to weight one for all out surfing.

Yeah. They will not arrive until August.

I remember that when I bought my X-star, I ordered in in May and took delivery in August. Hate the wait.

I love the looks of the X-30!

Darren, how did the X-30 drive and handle compared to the X-25?

The X-30 is my recommendation. It surfs better than the X-25 with just stock ballast, has a better beginner wakeboarding(18-20mph) wake, ski wake and handles better as far as more nimble. It is a rougher ride than the X-25 and doesn't have the same caliber of fit and finish. I have drove both and these two boats are completely different. The X-25 has a better smooth ride, intermediate to advanced wakeboard wake and just wraps its arms around you better.

I thought the X30 was very nimble and fun to drive. Rough water ride was still pretty good, you need the center trim plate for that, it's a must have option. As for price, if you option them up exactly the same, they are probably closer than you'd think. Granted you are comparing a 21'6" vs. a 23' boat.

I think that identically equipped, the x30 is about 6 grand cheaper. That's what I remember from talking with Norm at the boat show in February. I may not be remembering correctly though.

Base price between the two starts out at $3k(30 less than 25), but realistically is about $1200 after adding the walk through door, garbage can and pylon.

Here are the port and starboard surf wakes. 5 guys in the boat, 400lbs extra ballast. Going again Saturday to really dial it in. Stay tuned...

Dlamont, try turning the steering wheel away from the wave and see what happens. Very cool for skim riders!

i had an opportunity to take a brand new X30 out today ... absolutely incredible ... completely fell in love with the interior and dash ... if i were to sell my X14 the new X30 is definitely what i would buy. the wake at 32 mph looked terrific for skiing and i wasn't even playing with the trim tabs much ... the 6.2 had great power ... fantastic boat

Well, tbh, I'm sad the ski wake is good... they should put all there eggs in the basket of a one off surf boat. If the X30 is not it, then they need to look at that one place point market.

didn't have time to see how the surf wake was ... the wake at 22 with no ballast looked impressive ... if i had just had more time!

go for a X45, add the X-Star Sacks from FlyHigh with the Plug&Play Ballast.
Longer and heavier Boat - more Wake and longer "area" to surf I had a X2 2007 with FlyHigh Bag Kit... the X45 made a impressive difference (Goofy and Regular wake)
