Welcome to the board. I would strongly recommend this kit. It comes with everything you need except for a high speed orbital buffer.

Great link, thanks.

As to the polisher, one would have to decide between a 6" random orbiter or a 7" circular polisher. I use a Milwaukee (http://www.coastaltool.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/a/milwaukee/5460.htm?L+coastest+sbfm5638ff03bb03+1124148361) circular polisher for automotive finishing and it works great once you learn the techniques. It's faster and IMHO does a better job on clear coats, but it's a lot easier to burn the paint than a random orbital polisher like the Porter Cable they list in the article. (http://www.coastaltool.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/a/port/pr7424.htm?E+coastest)

These things to a great job and don't take that long once you learn how, but how do you polish/wax the parts to the hull inaccessible because of the trailer? My dealer uses a fork lift, but I don't have one of those.

Use a variable speed DeWalt. I think the part# is DW879. They are great buffers.

This is a long shot, but it worked for a friend.

If your boat is simply oxidized, rather than scratched or beat to oblivion, try to spray about a basketball sized area with a serious amount of 303 and let it sit for several hours. Buff it out. If it cleans it up, then great. If not...no big loss.

303 says that it is perfect for bringing gelcoat back to life. I use it as a touch up, as its hard to wax a boat when its on a lift...and I am too lazy to drag it out of the water for a day just to wax it.

Anyway, its worth a shot.
