Hi All,

Last year there were a couple of boat lifts(with canopy top) on our lake had a black mesh material draped around the boat, directly attached to the bottom of the canopy. My guess is that this matieral may protect against UV rays.

I was wondering if anyone uses this product or something similar, and where to find it. I went to our local marina last year and asked about it and received only blank stares.

Thank you!

Jim

I have a buddy that sells them in Austin... but I don't think he would come up your way. The answer is yes it is to protect against the elements and also UV rays.

I have our MC on a lift with no canopy and would also be interested in this product. Can you post his contact info? Thanks.

I don't have it on my lift, but I could see where it would be beneficial. I get a lot of oxidization from being in the sun. If you use your boat a lot, I could see this being a pain in the arse...

Thanks Tri! The product you referenced looks even better... what I saw was more of a mesh like matieral that would just drape down over the boat from the canopy.

Thanks again!

its called shade cloth you can get it in different amount of UV protections. I have it on my lift and it definitely does work. My swim platform sticks out behind my lift, so part of the swim platform is covered by the shade cloth and part is not. The part that's not covered grays out were the covered part does not. Plus since its mesh you get plenty of air flow which keeps the mold down. Here is a link were i bought mine. http://www.greenhousemegastore.com/category/shade-material

Anyone have ideas for storage above the boat in the canopy top?

Sorry for the thread jack but you all may be the ones to answer this.

I took 1" PVC covered it with pipe insulation and ran it across the canopy, I had to support it in the middle, I tied a rope to the PVC and tied it up to the canopy top.

Great info on the shade cloths... I was planning to add Sunbrella side curtains to the canopies and this looks like a better solution.
