Recently picked up a 1996 MC Prostar 190. I got what I think was a fantastic deal that I couldn't pass up. I know very little about boats so will be deferring to you all on most questions (No worries, I know how to search before asking questions).

Thanks for allowing me to be a member.

Here's a picture if it attaches.

Welcome to TT. You'll find lots of great info here. I bought mine last year and have changed the circulating water pump, fixed the fuel gauge sending unit and learned about winterization so far on this site. Love the color scheme. I have the same boat year and model. What engine? Mine's the LT1.

It's got the 350 with 150 hours on it.

I've swapped out the starter, bilge pump and bilge blower hose in the last week. Also got a coat of star brite with PTEF on with the porter cable.

I picked the boat up near Medford. Got it in Grants Pass, $4500.

Nice looking machine. Trailer looks to have been taken care of too...

Measure the height of the side decal on the "M" please. I like the font and need a dimension. Thanks

The M is 4.5 inches tall.

The only issue with the boat are these two seams. Has anybody had this piece reupholstered, and to save me from continually referring to it as "this piece" can anybody identify it by its real name for me?

Damn you stole that one! Welcome to TT. The part your showing is the sun deck or sun pad. Had mine restitched last spring for $60 at the local shop. No new vinyl as my stitching was only broke.

I got a quote today, $300 to recover. Will check around to see if restitching is a possibility. If not I'm sure I'll find a more reasonable quote elsewhere.

I've seen it done. But I won't be one of them. Lol. Loon Lake or Dorena for me.

Mine looked just like yours only one side. Restitching did the trick, if you look real close you can see where they did not use the same stitch holes otherwise it still looks original. Looks to me you can reuse your vinyl. I also offered cash over debit card. ;)

Too cold in the deep areas and too shallow in the warm areas.

No problem.

Now that we're back at the top I just learned that this boat was originally donated to Vonore Police Department in Tennessee. They used it for marine patrol until 2000. There are stickers on the boat that say "Provided by MasterCraft" and I can still see the ghosting from the Vonore Police stickers that were removed.

Anybody from that area?

I'm in TN but not from that area. There are some guys on here that are. Strange they would use a MC for patrol. In middle TN, on Percy Priest at least, I've seen the center console boat and the inflatable. The center console they have can haul a$$. I was in an unfamiliar part of the lake and thought I read the channel right, so I hammered down, was going balls out and about2 minutes later they pull up next to me out of nowhere. Nice guys they wanted to let me know I missed a bouy and was running in about 3 ft. of water. I nearly crapped myself.
