Doing some preventative maintenance on my "new to me" '87 PS 190. Took off the thermostat housing cover and found no gasket. I notice that skidim sells one though.

Can anyone tell me if there is supposed to be a gasket on the thermostat housing?

Thank you!

^^^^^^^^^ What he said. The gasket on my 350 was leaking one day at the lake. Scraped off the gasket and put it back together with just Permatex, itís been drip-less for several years now.

Gasket = yes. Gasket maker (permatex) = also good imho.

Gasket is cheap, probably be able to get one from a local boat shop I would guess, but skidim for sure.

When I don't have a gasket on hand I will just use blue Permatex. If I have a gasket (preferred) I will use it with a little Permatex on either side of the gasket. Gasket with the Permatex never leaks.

Thanks, guys! Looks like I'll spend the big bucks on a $3.50 gasket.
