Yep, got those side graphics and registration numbers from jim @ baws last year, completely changed the look of this old ts. I've had some people think that this boat is only a couple of years old and are surprised to know its 23 years old. Well i'm off to the river, I'll be sure to get a water temp reading for you northern folks and thanks for the positive comments...:D

Very sharp '76 MC! What engine do you have, and is it original?

SilviaMan
03-20-2012, 02:23 PM
Engine is 351 (marinized by escort marine)
A few things are not original. The front and rear center floor pieces were replaced with aluminum diamond plate. And long story short a guy had built a way of clearing the pitots while pulling a skiier so when they got clogged with weeds they could keep skiing. I believe they also didn't like the original swim platform and if I remember correctly its custom.
But over all its pretty well been kept original.

If I ever ordered a new MC I would request every inch of it to be candy red flake. I would then do beige/tan interior, with black graphics. It would be insanely awesome.

I know you can get the X2, the X25 and the X30 with solid color interiors, but not the flakes. Maybe some of the larger models have the colored deck option too, but I'm not sure.

That would be pretty intense to have a flaked out interior as well!

BrianT - Yes, the 2002 tower was replaced at the factory with a new 2005 tower when they first came out by the original owner (a MasterCraft engineer). The boat also got the 2004 side stickers and a 2003 interior. The 2004 sitcker are gone and now has 2010 MASTERCRAFT black outlined in silver drip molded graphics. I'm never done changing things on this boat. Last year I installed the 2011 Attitude Adjustment Plate - works great.

I wish MC would let the TT's and WTT's be customized when ordered. I absolutely love the lines of a prostar (it's why I bought one!) and you can make a sweet looking one on the design website! Don't get me wrong, these are sharp looking boats but you see one from that year you've seen them all. Sign of the times I guess that no one is custom ordering 197's.

Sullivan

Check out post #117 in this thread. Orange metalflake X45.

2006 it was available. Even on the 2012 Design a Boat, its not available. I also saw a 300 in Orange flake, but maybe a custom color. I heard MC will do any color if you pay for it;)

I remember seeing one or two orange on white Stars & Stripes boats somewhere between '79 - '81. They must have been special order boats and I have liked orange boats since.

A friend of mine had a orange and gray 85.

So I was out yesterday and this '93 190 pulled up. It was great. I told him about TT and he said he would get on and look around. His wife hates the boat because it rides bad in choppy water. After telling her that the kind of boat she has is the kind that will be wanted for a long time she changed her tune.

I don't like going over the top because it could still slide off the back and I don't want to buckle the sides in. The strap does go over the factory tie downs on the back. I need to modify the trailer so I can use those on the back. Thanks for the nice comments.

The point is usually pulling it down to the trailer. As far as it coming off the back, that's usually a ramp mishap. The friction of having it pulled down should take care of that if the winch fails. As long as you're hooked to a strong enough spot what you've got should be fine. Between the winch and safety bar I rarely put the belly strap on my 85 for a 5-10 minute ride to the launch.

Oh baby that impeller is so easy to change!

Yes it is. I dont think you can get any easier. The whole motor is easy to service. The starboard side storage box lifts out with just 4 screws and then you can access almost anything on the motor. Also has starter mounted in top of rear bell housing for easy access. I installed skidim quick drain valves with clear plastic hose to put thru drain plug hole to drain engine and manifolds along with OJ dripless prop shaft log. New Johnson raw water pump. Has updated new cd radio with orginal 6 speakers along with a depth finder. I also installed a 4 blade OJ legend force prop bought from a member here and and agm battery. Boat has awesome low end pull and good top end speed.
