Hey all, wanting to remove tower speaker so I can get to light globe. I have an 07 X2 JL speaker in MC cans w/lights std stuff. Anyway went to tackle the task today by removing the screws from the speaker surround fixes into can, not only did I shear 3 of the stainless screws, but once I had removed all screws, the speaker wouldn't come awAy from the can, even with a little prising with a screwdriver around the perimeter. Any thoughts on what I need to do would be appreciated...thanks

They have a rubber gasket on the backside of the speaker, as I recall when I removed mine you need to pry a little all around the speaker.

They do have a gasket of some sort on the backside all you need is a flathead screw drive and tap it on the top on the speaker between speaker and can itll come out just be gentle then remove the screws mounting the can to the tower and bam there off hope this helps

If you have to pry something then slip a very thin paint scraper blade in between the speaker and the pod. Then slip a straight blade screwdriver in between the thin scraper blade and the harder of the two surfaces. Rotate the straight blade slightly and the speaker should easily release. If not then repeat the process several times in different locations around the speaker perimeter. This technique or some other adaption will keep you from gouging the materials.
