I'd like to know MasterCrafts suggested seating capacity for each hull model 190 and 205 through 2000. It's an interesting topic on why MasterCrafts seem to have a greater seating capacity than other boat manufactures that would be in same category. For example the 90-96 Ski Nautique has a seating capacity of 6.

Nice history lesson and one I've read a few times already, but unless I'm missing something it says nothing about seating capacity.

Thats odd... I read the capacity of the different models in those threads, you'll probably have to download each individual owners manual and make a chart yourself...

From personal experience, I can tell you that MasterCraft passengers are much skinnier than passengers in other boats. ;)

I did find this info and still reading.

The 1995-1997 version of the ProStar 190 was 195 long, 85 wide, weighted 2,450 lbs and had a draft of 22 (same length, same width and same weight as the previous version). The load capacity for this 2,480-pound ProStar 190 is nine people with a fuel capacity of 31 gallons.

1998-2000*The load capacity for the 2,400-pound SportStar 19 is eight people or 1,095 pounds with a fuel capacity of 31 gallons.

The capacities are based on USCG rules and they change them every few years, and as long as the mfg. doesn't go OVER the rated capacity they can change the capacity plate to read a fewer number of passengers if they wish.

How can a Prostar 190 have a weight limit of 1350 lbs and then you see them with 1500lbs of ballast and 4 people in the boat?

The boat is overloaded in that case. Being overloaded does not mean that you are going to sink the boat by any means. It does however exceed what the USCG deems as an acceptable load based on the boats volume.

What would happened if pulled over by local wildlife authorities, Tennesse Fish and Game where I live, and your boat capacity is rated for 6 people and you have 8 people in the boat?

I hear in Tennesse they make you squeel like a pig.

jk

maybe

I got a stern talking to last year for having my boat maxed out and exposed "bags" that could put me over my weight limit. Lesson learned and the bags are hidden now

I can tell you there's no way 9 people can seat in a Prostar 190! 6-7 MAX

Its because you don't have an open bow to stick another 8 in! But seriously I can't even see 7 being comfortable in a 190. I stick no more than 7-8 in my 209. 9 people turns into a cluster flock in pretty much any boat

Does anyone know the seating capacity for a 96 Prostar 205 and have a photo of the capacity sticker?

Heres a copy of the owners manuals for a ton of boats. Should answer all of your questions

Seating capacity in all generations of PS 205 Direct Drives was 11 if I recall correctly. I don't have a picture of the sticker.

My 91 PS shows a capacity of 9 on the sticker by the throttle.

Good luck with that.

6 would be a full boat, maybe 7 if someone was behind and just sitting on a cooler to get back and forth.

We have a family of 4, and its just right for that, IMHO.

The 205 is definitely a roomier boat, but you pay for that open bow in my research looking for my 190.

With more than 4 crammed into the driver's seat, observer seat, and jump seat (if you have one) on a 205, the slalom wake is hard as a rock. In other words, usable bow seating is for cruising and wake boarding.

I've actually been to the owners manual page a few times. Note, if you click in the 96 Prostar 190, 205 owners manual it takes you to the 1995 manual.

Thank you East Tx, I'll trust you on the 11, remember your my hero, lol. BYW, what does the capacity plate say on your 98 closed bow?

So here is a newb question based on people in the boat as well:

If you have 5 people in a 190 and 1 out back skiing, where do you guys tie the ski rope? Off the rear transom tow-eye? With a driver, spotter, and skier this isn't an issue as you would use the pylon. I'd prefer not to hook anybody with the rope though. 8p I plan to purchase a fly-high extended pylon for wakeboarding, but I can't imagine that to work too well with someone skiing. Would I be wrong? And it is a 2.5" pylon, correct?

Ok here is the pic in my 96' 205.

This past summer we had a two day adventure in S.C. with three family's on the boat...
6 adults (2 kinda large compared to wife and I)
6 kids (4 under 10, 2 young teens)
All kids in jackets no ballest no alcohol!!
I was nervous most of weekend knowing I was 2 over but it does say "10 persons OR 1380 lbs.".
It was a tight fit but we all had a blast--at most times there was someone at the end of the rope on one devise or another. I figured if stopped I'd "plea" my case on the weight limit not amount of people. If we were at a lake house or something like that we may have done the "take turns" thing but I wasn't going to tell two they couldn't come so I guess I was prepared to get a butt chewed or at worst a ticket. Passed two "boat cops" waved friendly like and had a great weekend. This was an exception for us we are usually just my family of 4 or maybe 3-4 more at most usually.

Use the pylon, 2 in the observer seat, and 1 on either side of the engine on the floor. Tell them to watch out when the rope comes flying back! That's how we do it.

Great story Ski, thanks for the photos and the exact capacity of the 96 205. I'd love to see photos of that boat loaded with 12. Now that's a party and memories that will last for all involved.
