Two questions.....#1,I have read a few "compound posts" but i dont recall anyone discussing what to do with oxidation on textured gelcoat. I am working on a 82 S&S and everything above the rub rail is textured. #2 the metalflake stripe is rough. I have heard of people going so far as to dry sand at 200 grit then work back from that..... any thoughts... I did not have any luck with the engine cover and ended up clearcoating the metalflake only. I am hoping the metalflake on the boat is thicker. I noticed a chip on the gel 1 inch below the stripe and the blue flake was exposed? maybe real thick?

When working om the textured surface of my '77, I used these 3M Roloc Bristle Discs which have fine sand particles imbedded. I used them with the same compound I used while buffing the sides of my boat, but they may works well wet with water. They weren't perfect, but they were the best I could come up with.
