On Thursday Lance and I will be the proud new ownwers of a 2006 X10. We will be picking the boat up from Redline in Madison, WI. Looking forward to meeting everyone there that has been so helpful in all this.
They did tell us they had to order new graphics for our boat because the ones on the boat has some nicks in them. This better not be a sign of what is to come with this boat. So everyone cross your fingers for us, this boat is going to be problem free (at least for a while any way)!!!

I don't think that will be a problem. As soon as I get home I'll be sure to share the new boat with all. It's going to be hard to remember we have to go through break in all over again, it is the middle of boarding season, so booze cruise here we come.

When the ice freezes over, or when I'm too much of a wimp to take the cold water. The water is so warm we might get to ride longer this year.

Yes the '06 graphics but the X10 doesn't have the same new graphics, the X10 still has the tribal looking graphics because in December they are redesigning the boat. The grapics on the X10 are actually pretty cool, it is a half circle near the windshield of flames then the flames trail off toward the transom, in the half circle part there is a big "X". It doens't say MasterCraft or X10 on the boat. Yes it does say MC on the transom I guess. You bet we are doing a water delivery this time, and be sure we will inspect with a fine tooth comb. We are not leaving anything to chance this time.

Thank East Tx, we do to. I can't say anything bad about all those that have helped us out through this, for Lance and I MasterCraft has had excellent customer service. The man in MC's warranty department that I dealt with and have been dealing with is awesome. The reginal MC rep for our district has been great. The man at Indmar that we dealt with in the beginning was very helpful, in fact he got the ball rolling by suggesting that we take it back to the dealer and drain and tranny fluid and oil to check for water. The only thing bad I can say is that we had terrible service at the original dealership after we had problems, they were great up until then. The people at Redline Watersports have been very accomadating and helpful. I am still looking forward to this situation being over. I am glad MC stepped up to the plate and made this right by Lance and I. This is what we wanted from day one, a new boat.
I also have to say MasterCraft has been very generous through all this too. They are adding on some extra options that Lance and I didn't order on the first boat, and were willing to pay for on this one, but they threw them on with no additional cost to us. They are also still going to give us the 6 year extended warranty on the '06 boat and it is going to start over with the delivery of the new boat. I really have nothing bad to say. I guess we are one of those stories with the happy endings.

Well here she is the new 2006 X10 as promised. Everyone at the dealership was very friendly and so good about answering all our questions. The '06 is basically the same boat only some very minimal changes, mostly cosmetic. I believe this boat has different stringers from our '05. We did have to skip the water delivery, Mother Nature had plans of her own. We have faith that the service department did there job and did it well. I can't imagine that anyone from MasterCraft wants to here our name again :D
So here she is...kind of dirty though we had to pull her home in the rain

One of the biggest changes you'll notice is the gauge panel. The gauges are all red, the steering wheel is different, the throttle lever is different (I noticed, I missed that in the picture), there is some new vinyl textures in the boat and the stitching in the seats is different.

Thanks Jeremy, we like them both too, although the car hasn't seen much road time this summer. That's Lance's real baby his '69 Camaro that he built from the ground up.
The dealership did offer to do the water delivery with us. We chose not too, it was getting pretty late and we still had to drive home and the skies weren't looking to friendly. Good thing we passed or we would've been soaked.
It was so weird to go pick up the boat and it was all washed, cleaned, waxed, there is gas in it, and it was all vaccumed out. Those guys did an excellent job. Way to go!!
H2OGirl
08-12-2005, 09:05 AM
Of course when we got her home it was like Chirstmas time, we had to open every panel, check out every switch, we checked over the engine with a fine tooth comb, then we inspected the boat and trailer we did find two minor cosmetic damages which we will have fixed. The true test will be when we get to fire it up for the first time and take her for a spin. You can be sure we will be checking the hose clamps for a while to make sure they are tight and I'll be looking under those engine covers to make sure the water is visiting us anymore.
I would also like to say the guys at the dealership who installed the snaps for the bow and cockpit covers did an excellent job, they fit like a glove. Glad we chose to switch to the snap cover, already 100% happy we made that switch.

We are glad the story has a happy ending. The end is almost here, all that is left to do is make sure it runs perfect. We are really going to try to get in on the water tonight and I will try to get some better pictures of it for everyone. It really needs a bath too after hauling it two hours in the rain.
We left the '05 X10 at a good time, turns out it had another problem to add to the list of things to be fixed. The trailer had some brake issues on the way down. The boys at Redline will be busy with that boat for a while. It is mostly cleaning up the first dealership mistakes.

Is the demo boat gone now?
YES, it is currently sitting at Redline Watersports in Madison awaiting the service technicians there to give her a one over and fix the list of things we knew where wrong with it. Most of the stuff that needs to be fixed are things that are left over from the engine swap that the original dealer dropped the ball on. Once they are done with that then I am not sure what will happend to it, Redline may keep it and sell it or MasterCraft could take it back also. The boat has ran great for us all summer, after the few original kinks were worked out. It will be a great boat for someone.
I will say I am glad to have a fresh start though.

Perfect Pass is made by a different company, the gauge in the dash says MasterCraft but PP is used in a lot of different brands of boats, the Supra that Lance and I did a wakeboard clinic behind had PP in it the same guage and all that is in the MC. The MC version of PP doesn't have a guage in the dash, we have three rocker switches under the throttle lever that we use for the speed control. It also works a little differently than PP does. It doesn't have all the options of PP either, you don't enter any rider weight or boat load weight. It works more like the cuise in your car, you get up to speed then set it and it holds the speed. We seem to like it, it has worked well for us, some of you slalom skiers and barefooters might not like it as well.

If I get back to my boat soon, I do think mine says both PP and MC but I could be wrong. I guess yours is much different with the DBW throttle. I guess there is no need for the extra gauge. Hmmm, I will have to look, I could go look right now but I have to leave it stranded until the brakes are repaired. (Have I mentioned that my brakes s*ck ;) ) I look forward to getting to drive an '06 in the near future, not for me, but I am trying to convince my buddy he needs an X45 or X80. I want to take it out to Lake Michigan, mine would never survive the waves.

I don't think you're missing anything by not having Perfect Pass. The location of the paddlewheel sensor on the V-drive MasterCraft hulls is way too far forward and it picks up turbulence, making Speed mode (Wakeboard mode) a poor choice because of speed variations. Most of the people I've talked to only use RPM mode for those lower-speed applications like wakeboard and hydrofoiling, so Perfect Pass really provides no advantage over MasterCraft Cruise on an X-10 (or any V-drive hull) unless you're doing tournament skiing or something where the timer/magnet applications of PP are necessary. And if you were doing that, you would have chosen a different MasterCraft. Even Perfect Pass tech support recommends RPM mode for Perfect Pass on MasterCraft V-drives like the X-10. MasterCraft just puts those paddlewheels too far forward, limiting the usefulness of speed modes (Wakeboard mode) that uses the paddlwheel to control boat throttle.
Perfect Pass makes Digital Pro and Wakeboard Pro. Wakeboard Pro is cheaper and simpler and is completely adequate for free slalom skiing. If you were dead serious about hitting the course and competing, then it would be worthwhile to go for Digital Pro. If you're only wakeboarding and free-skiing, PP Digital Pro is way overkill.
My 04 Maristar/MCX doesn't have MC, so I installed PP Wakeboard Pro. It works fine in RPM modes, doesn't work well in Wakeboard mode. I would have rather had TBW and MC.

 An MC boat should be tested and tested before it is rolling out of the factory drive way. Things like this should not exist on a brand new boat and it is an MC. And please don't tell me that all boats has problem, I am talking about an MC which cost more than $50,000.00 big one. Quality is all that they are talking about, so customers should not be receiving any problems boat. Even customer service is an A+, receiving a boat and things does not goes right pretty much does it for me. I am sure MC willl take care of you, let us know what they fine. I love your boat.

Bigmac, where is your paddle wheel located? I have PP in my X30 and all I use is wakeboard mode and I have no problems at all.
It's in the same location that I'd guess yours to be - right underneath the little black spin-on manhole cover in the center of the floor.
One thing I did do over the weekend is bump the NN up from 80 to 160. That did make a noticeable difference in wakeboard mode. I played around with the KdW too - decreasing it REALLY sucked, increasing it didn't make much difference so I left it at factory stock. One difference is that I ordered an aftermarket OEM unit from my Mastercraft dealer and installed it myself, so it came with standard PP settings. IIRC, MasterCraft resets the units when they install them at the MC factory.
Assuming your PP is Wakeboard Pro and that it's software 6.5n, I'd be grateful if you'd check your KdW and NN settings and get back to me...(switch off the unit in wakeboard mode, press up and down simultaneously for KdW, press menu once to see NN setting). TIA

08-15-2005, 11:19 PM
That's where mine is located all right, just aft of the drain plug on the port side. Unless it is really choppy, I have had no problems with it holding speed, unless you call a tenth or two too much variation. I haven't fooled with any of the settings, but I just use mine for wakeboard and free skiing. I tried RPM mode once but preferred the speed mode much better.
I checked my owner's manual and I have version Xy 6.0 and it only discusses the kdw setting. With those differences, and my LTR vs. your MCX, my settings may not be too helpful but I'll check this weekend and let you know.
