Looking at this picture, what does the curly purple wire from the distributor to carburetor do?

Right side of engine, leads to distributor.

Thanks!

What does that mean to me?

I am clueless in this regard.

Controls the butterfly intake valve.....probably spark advance cause choke to open more when needed....send a PM to cloaked...he knows this stuff really well.

Cloaked has full box, won't accept PM. Good idea though.

Electric choke- there is a coil spring inside that as it heats up it opens the butterfly valve more. If you want to see it in action, turn on the ignition-don't start- and watch the valve gradually open as it heats up!

Full yes, accept yes if you can get it through.

I get tired of emptying it every 25 exchanges. Looks like the super powers could have a setting of 10,000 PMs.... I know I do elsewhere..... :D :D

.The purple wire is the hot wire from the ignition to activate the electric choke when the ignition is start or on. You do not want this feed to be from the ignition coil but from a the ignition switch.

The choke is adjustable but for the most part, it should be set to the median settings as indicated on the choke. As stated above, it operates on temp / voltage feed and controls the butterfly as indicated. Once that b!tch fires up, the choke will operate the the butterfly as required.

Is it just me or does this choke look like it is melted?

Na, it's just black silicone they put on the connector to keep it dry, and keeps it from vibrating off.
