Just purchased a spare key for my '03 Maristar.....$27.25!!!! WOW!!!

The dealer said there are 2 items that are very expensive from MC.

Ignition keys and swim platform pins.
Anyone else pay alot just for a key?
(gotta wonder how much the whole ignition switch costs)

Wal-Mart has them for about $2.95?

But they don't have the MC decal that will fall off in a year or two

I don't recall the letter code, but I paid the same, this way I have 3. one in the boat, and one in each tow rig so I can't miss it.

I have the two keys that came with the boat, and yes, I too paid a lot for an extra MC key. But - any key shop can duplicate a MC key (without the fancy MC label) for about $4.00. Also, any good key shop will guarantee their work. So try it. If it doesn't work, get your money back.

Try buying a key for a 98 Ford Explorer. More than the Mercedes key. Stupid computer chips.

Farmer, was the decal an anniversary boat thing? My father-in-law's 98 has a black rubber key enclosure with MC molded into it. Mine has a nifty little MC decal that still hasn't come off in 13 years. It's a little worn though.

I think the round key holders on my OEM keys comes apart, allowing you to slip a new key in there.

My wife is getting the Lexus key replaced that she lost, $200. I believe I am getting hosed!!

I have not been able to find a place that has a blank w/ which to make a copy of my '94 ignition key. Tried Walmart, Home Depot, and Lowes to name a few.

No,

It was just a drip mold decal with a M and C a tad bit lower than the M.

If it's any consolation, that explorer key was almost $300. This is someone I know, not us. I made extra sure when I bought my 01 Ford that replacement keys would not be so pricey. Still, they're like $60 or so according to what I was told.

And yes, I would consider a $200 key to be a case of hosing. Not that there's anything you can do about it. Don't the lexus keys have the alarm in the key?

Ah, quite fancy. You could order a replacement from domed letters.
