I doubt he'll be on for a few days. I can say for sure, there should be little time for chat when the little decides to eat, drink, or #2. There is very little time between for a few weeks.

First of all, I posted some yesterday afternoon. Second of all, you guys are great. Thank you for caring. I'm printing this post and using it to make my argument for a Blackberry.

So here's the deal. Wife has a Drs. appt. at 11:20 a.m. Last week, they told her if no baby by today, we can schedule it. Due date is August 12. It's a boy. If we have our druthers, it'll be on Thursday. I'll post more info when I have it (probably this afternoon).

Yeah, I got really involved in something at work and couldn't put it down for fear that I'd forget what I'd figured out (how vague). Got it finished and just need to put a bow on it this morning.

Here's the news! We are inducing on Thursday, August 11. Going in at 6 AM. May not be done until that night according to her doctor. Bringing lots of DVDs. Going to try to slip the Secret Spot into the bag.

In case any of you were wondering, on August 11, all this stuff (http://www.brainyhistory.com/days/august_11.html) happened.

Of Note:

8/11/72 - Cheech and Chong day in San Antonio

Also, two Beatles movies open, last Beatles tour begins, and the Beatles' Apple records debuts.

Pitocin is a great drug. One word of caution, it makes the labor pains stronger. If she is going for the epideral I would recommend she not wait to long for it. Each hospital has their own policies on when she can get one but I'd say to goof around to long with out it. Hey, I actually learned something in that new parent class :D

Yes most hospitals won't allow you to get an epideral if you already are on some type of pain medication. Plus you have to sign some waivers etc so the vultures...errr lawyers don't get ya. ;)

MarkP

Rene told them, “I want it now”, (the epidural), before the Pitocin. They said she was not far enough along. Her reply was that after the Pitocin she would be, “Give it to me now”. They did

Just saw the pediatrician. We're here another day, but are hopeful that we will go home tomorrow. Our doctors are not overly concerned as the levels are pretty flat on day four of life. Basically, they say as long as we are here, it's best to stay rather than go home, have the levels rise, and have to come back. We're able to stay with him in the nice room this way rather than have to come back and be in something less comfortable.

Looks almost identical to Cameron as a baby, but, so far, much more mellow. Cameron would not have stood for that light bed and those little goggles for a second. Andrew tolerated it well and will lie down while awake in the cradle. Cameron would have none of it. Level of mellow may be the only way I have to tell them apart some day.

Congrats on your new addition. My wife and I are expecting our first in July. One of the things we agrue over is when can I take the boy in the boat? I say by next summer when he's a year old he could come out with us for a half day on the water but she says no.
What do you guys think, when can I bring the baby on the boat for a day of skiing?
Thanks for your input whether I win or loose, I want to be safe.

Levels dropped and we came home yesterday. Phototherapy at home with the light blanket beats another night in the hospital. I'm thinking we'll be done with that in a day or so.

Here's a Day 1 picture.

Beautiful! Very happy for you. Congrats.

My oldest boy went through > three months of NICU treatment and is now a fairly normal (dopey) teenager, so all things are possible.

Really a matter of personal preference depending on you and your wife's comfort level and whether your little one seems to enjoy it. No reason to force something on them that they don't enjoy. Our first one was on the boat by coincidence being held by grandparents while my wife drove and I skied at age 3 weeks. This was not something we planned, but he didn't complain (in fact, he was asleep with a touch of the key). At that age, I wouldn't do it without someone to hold the baby and only on smooth water (we have a spot and it was in September with not another boat in sight).

As he got older, we put him, in his vest, in a bouncy seat, but not strapped in. The seat was right next to the driver, who was able to keep a hand on him.

Later on, we had a little portable high chair that strapped to a regular chair. It strapped around the jump seat perfectly and supported him well right up next to the driver.

Again, your kid, your rules. Your answer.

Our youngest was 8mo when we got the boat and took very well to boating. Mom used his car seat and he slept ate and seemed to enjoy it. She just used the baby blanket to keep the sun off.

... which reminds me, for us, a bimini top, a hat, and some UV resistant kids swim covers are a must.

Thanks, X2M.
