First question, when in nuetral on X9 I have a banging that sounds like it is towards the trany, but it is in neutral, it also (if I remember is happening when just in gear) Mabey it is just me! Second question How many gallons do these boat hold? I read the specs it said 35 and another said 34 gallons, Well I went from what I thought was empty( because I was running out last trip) to fill up only getting 28 gallons in the boat, something is not right!!

What year is it? I am assuming you are talking fuel gallons (I hope)?
Banging anything doesn't sound good. Especially in neutral. Could the linkage be out of adjustment? Is it one hit kind of a bang, or several bangs?

Trans issue doesn't sound healthy at all. I'd get that looked into.
Fuel: Size tank can be rather confusing. What they don't take in account for is air and vapors. It's no different than in your car, on a hot day especially you'll be very hard pressed to fill a 25 gallon tank with 25 gallons of fuel unless you want to set there for an hour or so. There is lots of variables like heat, fuel temp, etc... but a full tank is very rarely full.

It is continous either light banging or a loud clicking, it is hard to explain. It is an "05" with abpot 20 hrs. And yes gallons of fuel  I was under the impression it was 35 gallons of (fuel) ans when we were out loaded with ballast and pulling a wakeboarder it started putting out(it did say empty!) but I thought we should have fuel, after that I stopped emptyed the ballast and cruised in to the dock without a problem. I thought mabey the pickup wasen't working or the gauge was inncorrect! Seems to eat fuel with the 350 in it.

Almost sounds like a damper plate but it's hard to believe a 2005 could have problems there. I'd get it looked at, if thats it you really don't want that blowing apart on you

What oil are you using in the transmission. I know there was a service bulletin out there that said to change to 15w/40 in the transmission to quiet them down.
Here's a link to our good friend MYMC's web site that details the issue

If that doesn't work just go to mymastercraft.com and go to the forums. Search on transmission oil.

The ZF V-drives and reduction gears have a tendancy to "rattle" a little when they are not under load. If the noise goes away in gear and off idle it is probably just the nature of the transmission. There are some straight cut gears in the transmission that clash or rattle against each other when they are not under load. We have changed from using ATF in any ZF reduction gear (including v-drives) to help dampen the noise but it does not eliminate it completely.

I have had the exact same experience with the gas tank on my 209. I think the big factor (assuming your gas gauge works correctly) is that the gas tank is long and flat. If I were to guess that the tank is 80"x15", one gallon of gas only raises the level by 0.2". I think, but I could be wrong, that the fuel pickup is designed to pickup the last drops of fuel when the boat is level or nose down (0-5 mph). So when you run out of fuel while skiing or boarding with the boat in a nose up attitude, there is still gas left in the back side of the tank. I have then idled for about 2 miles before running out of gas again. Also make sure that the boat is level side-to-side because the fuel pickup is in the center of the tank.
I too am still suspicious that my tank hold 36 gals.
Good luck with your tranny. Mine clunks, but certainly doesn't bang.

I called my dealer and the shop said 28 gallon tank, but I swear the specs sheet say's 35 even on the MC site!! They said the noise I hear is the injectors and normal, it is a loud clicking not so much a banging. You are right on the tank we made it in about 2 miles. It does feel better at 28 gallons not 35 so quick!

Yes the MC site says 35 gallons. My 2003 spec sheet says 35 gallons.

Ok, I called Tech services at MC they said it is supposed to be a 35 gallon tank(of Fuel!) :uglyhamme And for safety of not running the motor completely out of gas, it holds (?)gallons so you don't blow a fuel pump! I am still somewhat confused if I was even low enough to have the boat putter out even with fuel to get in, and I put 28 gallons in and was over full that means they leave at least 5-7 gallons there in case!!  He also said you can adjust the the fuel gauge at the sensor with a philips head? I will work on this.
