View Full Version : Maristar 225 engine compartment hatch won't open

Can this part be fixed? Do not know what it is called but it is the hydrolic thing that opens up the engine hatch? It blew a fuse the other day and now the motor is working but it just spins left or right and does not go up or down. Local dealer says $695 for a new one. Thanks for the help.

Can you post a picture. Not sure what you're talking about. My engine box is held up by gas shocks that are comparatively cheap to replace.
You should be able to remove one of the rear storage bins to get acccess to the pin that holds it to the floor. Then you can open the hatch and have it checked out. If you need a new one, call MC directly and ask what the list price is, then shop around. Google has to have info on suppliers of linear actuators.

Took a picture of it but do not see how to attach to this message. It looks like a big electric shock that lifts up the engine hatch when I press the open or close button on the dash. Sounds like I need a linear actuator repair shop.
If you can resize the picture to 700x700, it won't be so huge. Instructions on opening page of the site.

Took it apart last night with a friend who is good at that kind of stuff. All the gears looked good and when we hit with electricity, you could see the jack part inside going up or down. Put it all back together and it is working like a 695 dollar new one. Now I can get back to the original problem of why was the tension pully rubbing against the altenator fan.
