Hey, I was wondering if there is ever any slalom skiing competions on TV?? I remember watching it years ago. If so, what channels air it, and when? I would like to see some good slalom skiing.

Thanks!! :)

Andy Mapple has a good video. It is a bit dry but I have found if you watch a few sections at a time and try an apply just that little bit they work good.

Yeah, I remember watching slalom skiing all the time on ESPN when I was younger. That must've been 10 or 15 years ago now. Sounds like the Outdoor Channel has had it on but I have to get the digital pack or something to get that channel. I already pay enough for cable that I don't even watch that often.

We were talking about this on another thread, and it appears that streaming it over the internet is going to be the wave of the future.

Now the question is how do I keep up with what is going on over here and watch tourneys on the web?

Get 2 computers Lakepirate, and put em close together.....well not TOO close, you dont want them to transfer any viruses. ;)

I have my computer hooked up to my 50" TV as well so I can watch tourneys on that while still browsing the web. I highly recommend it!

Soon enough you will be putting pics from the swimsuit thread on the 50" and watching tv on you computer monitor.

OLN has a show called FusionTV that had the Masters. They have more wakeboarding than skiing, but it's still great to see it - google for show times. Even better get TiVo, it comes on once a week or so (with one late night repeat). I love seeing when a new one pops up on the list! One episode a few weeks abo had some tournament in No CA (I think) and a great segment on Andy Mapple.

hey Ryan, speaking of video stuff. I did make myself a "hillbilly tracker" like you did. It works great! My dad had an older tripod that had a broken leg, so he gave me that. On trip to the hardware store: $2 for a paint roller, $2 for 2 bungee cords. $4 total investment and it works like a champ! It gets a few laughs too, but most people think its genious. And I dont take credit for it, since I just copied your design.

Thanks for the idea!!! :toast: :D

Its great to sit an pick apart my skiing. Just when I think I am having a good day on the water and skiing REALLY well, I get home and am humbled by the reality of video. ha ha !! its a very useful tool. I am waiting to catch some good wipeouts with it.

Sweet! The shot to the ego is a drag the first time. From pictures alone, I thought I was looking good a year ago, until I saw myself getting tons of slack, truning too short and super slow wake crossings. It's gotten a lot better since.

Wipeouts - some of my best were lost when the rope went taught behind the boat and I'm out in left field so the camera is forced to pan back to center. A wide angle lens helped that a lot, but I gave up the close ups.

You should post some pics of yours over on that other thread (http://www.tmcowners.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=4146&highlight=hillbilly+trakker).

Yes, its quite humbling. It seems way more aggresive out on the water compared to the video. The vidoe makes it look tame. I too have a btich of a time with too much slack in the rope, mainly on my offside turn. It sucks!! I have to really start working on that. Its weird, I know I can do nice turns on my offside, because I have done them before, but I must have a bad habit that I cant lay my finger on. I need to change and improve. I need to keep that rope tight while I turn....easier said than done I guess. Thats why I want to go to ski school. :)
