I just wanted to share these pics. I had Texas Ski Ranch Mastercraft upgrade the Audio on my new X2. Neal And Trey did a unbelievable job. They put in 3 10in free air Wet sounds subs, 2 pro 80's, 1 syn1, 1 syn4 and a WS420. I stayed with the JL components that came with the boat, simply because they are great speakers. The install came out great, in partuicular I really liked the job they did mounting the WS420. They integrated it into the dash, so it is flush mounted, looks like it came from the factory installed. Pics below. Whole system sounds great, the wet sounds free air subs are phenominal, I was blown away with the depth and sound that they produce, I highly reccomend them. Great way to add awesome sound without losing storage.

Looks sweet! Does the Syn 1 run all three subs? Are you using the Syn 4 to run the Pro 80s and the JL cabin speakers? I've got to do something with my sub the original JL free air isn't cutting it anymore.

I would guess that the syn1 powers the subs, the syn4 runs the pro80s, and the stock amp runs the cabin speakers. The install looks great.

That is a lot of free air subs. I'd be really interested in how it sounds. Were you opposed to running subs in boxes or something? I've never seen anyone running so may free air subs.

since I did not do the install I will do my best to answer the questions. The Syn4 is running the Pro80's and the JL's, I believe he bridged them down to 2 ohm and then ran the JL's on 2 channells of the syn 4 and the Pro 80's on the other two channels. Thy syn1 powers all the subs, bridged the subs down to two ohms.

I was not against boxes, but I heard an X55 with the free air subs and it was unbelievable so I went that route in this boat. In my X30 I had the wetsounds XXX in a downfire ported box behind the observer seat. This sounds better, you get the complete full range and you lose absolutely nothing with the free air. i was surprised, I have never heard free airs that sound this good. I have heard that the new JL free airs sound great also. I believe power is the key, perhaps Tim from Wetsounds will jump on and give his insight. either way, it came out great, could not be happier.

Do you have any pics of how the WS420 is secured? I've had mine in that location for a few years but just put it in the slot and never secured it.

Free-air woofers can be a legit option in some boats, but not all, and definitely can sound good. It takes a true infinite baffle woofer and the execution has to be right in a number of aspects (and the execution is seldomly right). Most people have only been exposed to a few poor examples of IB execution. It also really helps to have those dual subwoofers in such close proximity to one another so they compound load. The third one across the cockpit is going to be less productive by comparison although it still contributes. And, it doesn't hurt to have a 1000 watt amplifier divided by three efficient and easy to drive subs.

I have no clue how they secured it. they had to cut to spot in the dash where they put the WS420, definitely secured in the spot though. I will try and get some pics.

thanks David. My boat is about to be back up at Ski Ranch for some scheduled maintenance and they are wanting to put another sub behind the driver seat to so that there is the same set up on the port side of the boat.

Looks awesome, dude. I am going exclusively Wetsounds on my 2012 X-25.

One question: did you consider the Rev10 tower speakers over the Pro80s?

Don't the rev10's and pro80's look identical?

From the back they do since the enclosures are identical. From the front they look different. The grilles on the rev10s are larger (10" instead of 8") and are slightly convex. There isn't a huge difference in the look, but you can pretty easily tell the difference.

Just an update. I added another 10" free air sub behind the drivers seat to compound load off of the other 10" sub. so now a total of 4, after some water time I would highly recommend these subs for anyone looking to add some subs without killing your storage space. They sound unbelievable.

Did your x2 have the stock JL woofer in the location behind the driver? Or did you have to make the spot for it?

Will you take some video of the system playing? Id really be interested to see how those free air sound ( i know the video wont do it justice) Do you get much vibration like from the tower and windshield? I know on some song my windshield shakes quite a bit as does the tower haha ... and im only running 1 10"

I'd like to know how those subs sound too. I currently have one jl audio free air ten powered by a jl audio MHD750, too much power really for that sub. I do not want to give up space though.

I was looking at this enclosure for the bow:

http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/Marine-Audio-Boat-Custom-Fit-10-Subwoofer-Enclosure-Box-Waves-Wheels-MS-R-MS-R

We run the bow filler cushion all the time up front and I think this enclosure would fit based on some old measurements I made, but I'm not 100% sure. My measurements show there being 12" at the front of the bow, 15.5" wide heading back toward the cockpit and 17" length under the bow filler and 10.75" of height available under the bow filler cushion. The enclosure dimension are shown as 11" H x 18" W x 10 1/2". Not sure if it would work or not because according to my measurements the sub would have to fire down at the floor or up at the bottom of the bow filler starboard piece and according to my measurements there would only be around 1/4" between top or bottom of enclosure and the starboard filler piece. Any opinions? I'm going to mock up the box and see how it fits the next time I get up to the lake to visit my boat.
