Going to pick up a used '04 Yukon XL and I want to ditch the stock rims/tires.
Show me what you've got!

'04 Chev Tahoe Z71. Falken STZ-04's on Dip 04 rims. Tires are 305/40/22.

2004 Yukon XL, 2500.

17" wheels and 305 tires if I recall correctly.

Burban with 22" rims, 305/45/22 tires.. Probably ditching these though and going back to stock rims or similar with all terrains.. Anything over 20's on these things effects braking, acceleration, mpg negatively.

Really? We observed normal fuel consumption this summer with our 22's on.

the higher you raise a vehicle the larger profile it will have (I know that the overall profile remains the same but how much of the vehicle is exposed out of the slipstream when following traffic), along with a higher CG which could affect stability, leading to loss of MPG. There will also be a larger arm from the center of the tire out to the edge causing the transmission and or engine to work harder. Lots of factors in play, to cause differences and the human factor will also play a role.

Tire tread choice can have a big factor on you mileage also.
