View Full Version : Modifying MC Trailer

Due to the steepness of my local boat ramp, I'm looking into options for modifying my MC trailer. Basically to allow loading the bow when it comes in very low on the bow support and boatbuddy. The ramp is steep enough that getting anywhere close to the boatbuddy means the trailer is very deep. Deep enough that the boat guides are useless.
I'm thinking about welding/installing a vertical V cushion (a friend has one on his non-MC trailer) that will allow the bow to rise up - as the boat settles onto the bunks - when the trailer is pulled up the steep ramp. Anyone with similar steep ramp issues have any advice on trailer modifications? Thanks! 2008 MC 197.

I had a similar problem with my X-star on a very steep ramp. I have to put the trailer in so deep that the boat guides are totally under water. Otherwise, the x-star bow tries to go underneath the boat buddy. Usually 2 people have to help me keep the boat centered.

Maybe some long sections of PVC pipe to slide over the existing boat guides?

I thought I had the same issue as well. As it turns out I was backing in too far--I know, seems counter-intuitive, but was the case. Now, I just back in until the tips of the main minks are sticking out just 1" or so, and this works on literally every ramp I have ever tried. By not backing in so far, it allows the V-bunk in the front to lift the bow into place, rather than the boat just going above the v-bunk and the bow not lifting and hitting the boat buddy too low.
