Noticing that when braking, then restarting forward motion, there seems to be excessive play in the surge brake mechanism, in that there is a clunking sound as it reaches the stop at full extension.

Wondering if anyone has some maintenance tips for servicing the mechanism or perhaps it is as simple as topping up the brake fluid level (1/4" below the top level of the fill port on the top of coupling).

As well if anyone has any advice how to bleed the brake lines as it seems like the only way to actuate the brakes, is to have the trailer in motion.

Much appreciated for any info

get a bleeder cup from an auto parts store...about $6 bucks...excessive clunking could mean a couple of things...number 1 no brake fluid or loss of break fluid...i.e. a rusted out master cylinder... old MC trailer brake lines rusted out and all the fluid leaked out. a little clunk ok....

it could also be a bad shock in the actautor.

pacific trailer http://www.pacifictrailers.com carries all the parts
