Ballast Timers?

Is it easy to remove the timers on the ballast system of an 07 X1?

I trying to help out a friend, so I am not familiar with this setup. I showed him the pdf on resetting and setting the time (through blinks) but he said it didn't work. He would like to just remove the timer part and just have a switch to turn it on and off like the 2006 X1 does...

You need to put some relays in to get it working without the timers. This thread covers it

The first post in this thread has wiring schematic for an 06 MC X30 non timer ballast system. It has all the correct part numbers that MC used in the 06s. IE marine relays not automotive.

I've never seen the helm wiring for an 07+ model year so I'm not sure of the wiring difference up there.

The benefit of going to the 06 wiring is you only need 2 relays per pump but you might need to change out the helm switches to carling 8 pole types.
