View Full Version : Skeg bush replacement

Hi, I have an 2007 X2, bought as a used boat 12 months back and getting it ready for upcoming season. Wanting to know if its necessary to regularly replace the skeg bush, say annually?? There is really no play between the prop shaft and skeg, so I am curious, as I was advised these really never need to be changed.
Do you guys change the skeg bush regularly?..thanks

If there's no play, let it be. There are guys on here with 20 year old boats with the original bushing in their strut. My boat is getting there (15 years?) and I haven't seen a need to replace mine either.

the cutlass bearing does not replacing until there play...keep it clean in there... I run some 303 in there to keep the rubber from drying...you can even drip a little light weight synthetic oil in there to keep it from drying out... if there seems to be any mineral build up clean it vinegar.. my 1995 has original bearing at it looks like new.
