I've had great luck using the finder on the Yamaha website located here:

I'd be really interested to hear about your problem/solution on the motor, since we have the same one.

You don't want a uti grad working on your stuff, until they have about 5 years of real world experience. They shove a bunch of theory down their throats with very little shop work. Take it from someone who knows. Mine thought they knew it all and were afraid to touch real customer cars, but they can change oil with the best of em. Don't know maybe the marine school is different but I doubt it.
