I want to add my fly high extended pylon to our new (to us) 96 Prostar 190. Any problem with using the lifting eye mount on the deck for the pylon cable attach point, or should I stay with the bow sling?

Bow sling, after looking at the lifting eye on my 96, I just don't see it being used for anything but a straight up pull.

I think the bow sling is the best way to go.

How do you keep from climbing on the deck to attach the cable to the sling? When the boat sits on the trailer up against the Boat Buddy I can not thread the sling through, I always had to walk on the deck of our 80 SS and I really don't want to do that to this boat.

Could you keep the bow sling in place with a couple zip ties securing it to the lifting ring and still use the boat buddy?

I had the same problem for about 5 years. My children got older and so did I. I fixed the problem for about $4k. I have never been sorry just wish I would have done it years earlier.
Now I just thread it through when I am in the water..................... buy a 205.

p.s. Take the boat buddy off and throw it in the trash. Buy a nice clear bow roller. No marks, and it looks great.

Good luck

I reinforced the lifting ring assembly with an additional bracket. It's been working great for years

Nice work.

Thanks. It's great to just clip the cable to the ring and go. Some owners use the lifting ring without any reinforcement. I would worry about the force on the deck.

Seeing what that looks like from the inside, I am amazed that's all there is for lifting the boat.
