Alpine mc10 or MC20 remote....it fits in the drivers side cup holder. Just a couple dabs of super glue to hold it. The wires come right out the bottom. Don't need to cut up the dash, or lose the speedo or whatever else. It's not out of reach too bad, and if you ever swap stereos or boats again, you can take the alpine with you and just pop in a new cup holder! It's 100% reversible!! Drop in a 2" blank gauge or a depth finder in the old hole, tell the observer to hold (not drink) your beer and yer dun!

Some people may say I'm a hero for coming up with this. I can't say either way. I'll let history decide.:D

Looks like a perfect fit. I might choose clear silicone to mount it, but that's just my :twocents:

In hindsight, i would have used silicone too. The super glue is a bit "chalky" looking.

do you know if that remote will work with any alpine unit or does it only work with their marine head units?

Perhaps a fine point sharpie to touch up the super glue?

it is only compatible with the 3 alpine marine units.

I just touched it up with a black automotive paint marker, and hit it with silicone. looks much better.

To actually gain hero status, you'll have to tell us what to do with the hole in the dash where the Clarion remote used to be. :D

1) 2" faria depth gauge.
2) 2" clock or a blank gauge.
3) make a handgun holster out of it.
4) make a flower vase like the old vw beetles had.
5) make a tip jar for the driver there - my favorite.

Hero. That just happened.

Tip jar sounds like a winner to me.

You don't keep a cop in the observer seat?

Funny you should post this....I am actually trying to decide on a location as well. I was thinking of pulling my factory speedo and putting the Remote to the right of the tac as my pp is on the left. Figure I would just drill a couple new holes in the bracket off the speedo to lock the remote in place. The white color wouldn't clash to bad with my white gauges and it would be right at your eye level for a quick glance. I figure if my pp goes down the Gps on my phone will give me much more reliable speed anyways.

I also thought about puting it in the side panel just in front of the shifter, above the cup holder, and just below the old Clarion remote. There is no way I can give up that cupholder. There is always a water or a pop in there.

Any ideas on what to do with the old hole left by the remote? I have askedon here if anyone knows where to get a new Mastercraft panel without the hole, but was unsuccessful. My only option left is to take it to a stereo shop and have them make someting custom at end of the season.

My cop and holster ride in the driver's seat :)

That spot is awesome for me.. with the remote, is it a true wireless or do you have to run wires to the head unit?

Needs power and ground. Wireless to headunit.

Perfect, thanks very much SWeaver. I could find + and - under the dash I assume.

Yup. Should be a negative bus under the dash, and plenty ofoptions for positive.

And you didn't share? tsk tsk. Too bad, you could've been the hero. And anyway, aren't you rolling in a 209? This was the 205V. Totally different. There's probably still time to be the 209 hero, though :)

Is this the cover you were asking about?

I like the way you think, but couldn't do with a cup holder somewhere.
Good luck!

Nicely done! Looks awesome.

Not to hijack the thread but where did you get the throttle ball?

FYI, I got a new throttle ball for my 205V from the MC dealership. It is the same as any of the new models and screwed right on. Mine is billet alum with the black top.

i thought about mounting mine in the cup holder, in the dash somewhere, but best option was to make an adaptor to use in the stock location, most visible and driver friendly there see pictures.

taking orders! ;)
