I am in need of a coil, spark plugs, wires and distributor cap/rotor for the 1992 Prostar 190 with a 351. Does anyone know of a good place in SoCal to purchase these parts? The local MC dealer wants an arm and a leg.

Also, does anyone know the part numbers on these items?

Thanks

I think you can get everything from NAPA or a local speed shop. I bought, plugs (auto light 24's), cap, rotor (I have a Mallory distributor) and wires from NAPA for my 91 PS 190. I haven't done anything to the coil.

Nothing boat specific about those parts. Have bought all of them from Napa in the past.

Thanks guys. I called NAPA and they were able to get me the parts I needed.

Any idea on how to weed out the bad part/s?

I would start with the plugs, cap and rotor and wires and go from there. If that doesn't fix it then you will have to dig deeper. From your other thread it sounds like you are having a problem at full throttle. Check the timing, is it advancing?

Check the springs in your distributor and make sure they are there and that the weights can spin out.

Thats correct. It back fires at around 3200 rpm. I was told by my crab guy to check the high tension leads in addition to a number of other things. But i'm not too sure what the high tension leads are? Ignition wires?

I have never check timing before, i might have to take it to a mechanic.
