Hey guys, please help me out here. I tried searching before posting this but couldnt find the threads. I want to purchase a go pro camera to tape myself skiing. Any advice? where and how to mount, etc...

To be honest, my son, 7 years old, does a pretty good job but I need a smoother video to do proper self analysis.

We have surf mounts on our wakeboards and it works great.

They are awesome. We used it to capture everything this summer on the boat. Keep in mind this camera has a fish eye lens and was designed to be worn or close to the action. If you ski short lines it will be fine. I mounted mine on my wakeboard tower to see how I was skiing. Kind of eye opening. I have come to the conclusion I need some formal lessons now.

There are so many possibilities with this camera. Not that our season is coming to an end I am making mounts for my bow and my snowmobile.

Go Pro is not the best option from the pylon. The rider will seem a million miles away.

Here's an example of what a go-pro looks like mounted to the tower. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kv5epj_tb-Y

That said, you should definitely have one for your arsenal. It takes amazing close-range videos. Tie it to a buoy. Mount it to your chest. Even mount it to your board. For your pylon I would think that something like this: http://shop.helmetcameracentral.com/HC-VIO-POVHD.html would be a better option.

how long of a rope was that? that really isnt bad to be honest...I'll be able to see where my elbows are, if my knees are properly bent, etc...I'm not taking the videos to post but rather just to watch and correct my mistakes. I ski on less than 50 feet of rope( 28 off to 32 off), that rope seems to be pretty long.

Perhaps a bit more extreme (at least potentially), but here's an example of multi-camera Go Pro in action.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWfph3iNC-k

FWIW, of the 5 Go Pro's he was wearing, only three of them worked. The videographer said it was because the Go Pro's couldn't all handle the volume of awesomeness.

This video literally made my jaw drop.

They had a special on 20/20 one night with Jeb Corliss on it, he has some crazy stunt coming up. See the balloons 1:19.

He hopes to land without a parachute.

make sure the finish on your ski is smooth...I have a 2010 HO Free ride comp....the etched skulls make it impossible for the camera to stick.
