Has anyone made a trunk or just taken the backseat out totally and made a piece to go in the back to cover up the gas tank?

The older era boats came with a fiberglass cover for when the rear seat is out. Also there is a thread here where someone took the rear seat out of an 85 and built a sundeck from the tank to almost up against the engine cover. It looks pretty nice.

I keep my rear seat out and have the matching fiberglass cover to place over the tank.

85 model - the red boat is mine. The other two pics are the guy's sundeck. He posted here and sent me these in an e-mail with additional pics for a build.

My former '91 Prostar came from the factory with a carpet covered plastic panel behind the back seat. The top of the panel was secured to the edge of the deck with two or three aluminum angle "clips". Removing it to gain access to the battery or tank was as simple as pulling the bottom of the panel forward.

Does yours not have that panel, or were you looking for something different?

My 94 has a carpeted cover across the back when I take the seat out. I would love to have a sun deck though....

Hot off the presses. Ignore the seat sitting on top, its drying out...

Its a flexible sheet of something and it slides up into position.

Picture 1 - Off leaning forward.
Picture 2 - Leaning up against the back
Picture 3 - Installed

The previous owner owned it since new, but ended up moving 3 or 4 times going through a divorce. Bottom line he could not afford the boat, so it sat on a hill for about ten years. Who knows where this piece is!

Reminds me of a thin piece of aluminum painted black. But someone on here probably knows.

I work in the sign industry and I would call it Sintra, or Komatex. You it comes in millimeters you want 3mm. You can probably make the aluminum clips and rivet them on before you wrap the fabric. Where are you I can give you a piece if your local to me.

My 91 PS has the carpeted pull-out panel as well behind rear seat.

Looks exactly like the pics previously posted.

My 91 doesn't have one and, although I was kind of surprised the first time I took out the rear seat and saw the gas tank right there, I just assumed that's the way it was. I may add it to my list of projects, but it will be awhile before it bubbles up to the top.

Call a tap plastics or plexiglass plastic store and ask for a sheet of sintra, komatex or PCV material 3mm or 1/8" thick in black. a 4 x 8 foot sheet should cost under $30. I buy bulk and get them for $22.00 each.
