We have a 2010 X-Star and one of our ballast tank sensors went bad last year....now another has gone bad.....and it appears the one replaced last year is going bad. Is this typical? The boat is only a little over a year old. I spoke to a dealer...and he said it is out of warranty. These are the sensors in the hard tanks....so its nice to know your tanks are empty....

Thanks, Greg

There is an adjustment screw on the sensor to calibrate it, did you try that first?

The sensors I have do not have screws. The sensor is threaded, and screws into the top of each tank...each with an electrical connector.

I guess they eliminated the adjustment screws that my '05 has.

replaced one and now it seems the other one replaced last year is going bad. That's 3 sensors in one year....anyone else?

Take a bad sensor, and remove the shrink plastick,..you,ll see a cirquit board,if it gets wet the electrical componets corrode.Sometimes you can fix these.
P.s this cirquit board has 3 pins, make shure wich side is front or backside

2010, out of warranty? Is three years just the engine/tranny?

My 08 X-star has had no ballast sensor failure.

Only one year on the sensors. I pulled the sensor....I think I determined what my issue was. The actuall sensor that screws into the stainless steel sleeve was not getting a tight seal...thus getting some moisture into the board causing the failure. I determined this once I removed both port and starboard sensors. I think I will be good moving forward. Now I will have to wait until next year.

I had the same thing happen the first year I had the boat, 09 x-star. I think I got the same problem this year on two of mine. The first year it was warrenty but looks like it will be out of my pocket this year. Any idea how much these units cost? Part numbers?
