Hey everyone. I am a new mastercraft owner of a 85 stars and stripes. It only has 222 hours on it and it is running like a kitten. The only thing that i didnt notice is that the capacity sticker with the number of people and max weight is not on the boat. You can tell where it had been taken off. I contacted a dealer and they said they can not get it. Any ideas and is this really needed for the coast guard or what?

O yeah also looking for a big sticker to put on the back of my truck.

Let me know

Thanks for the help

I don't know about the sticker you might have to call the coast guard about that.

Your state's boating laws might require you to have it.

As far as the capacity, I have no idea. But I am sure someone on here will know.

Welcome to the board.

I would guess your dealer would have it.

I'm pretty sure it's a requirement, but not sure how often it is checked.

I have a picture of mine for my 82 at home. I will try to get it on here tonight. Your 85 is either thatsame or close. If I remember right it has a maximum of 6 people and/or 1095 lbs.

Some states do require it.

The capacity specifications are required by fedreal law. Each state and / or the USCG may have other requirements that I am not aware but the original mandate stems from the Feds, just as a jar of jelly or a vehicle.

However to keep you out of trouble, forego the sticker and sell me the boat. I'll find room for it here...

How about a few pics of the 85 model Skier 19? :toast:

If you'll post your engine model number here, I'll tell you everything you'll (eventually) want to know about yEr boat... :steering:

Hey guys thanks for all the help. I have contacted the USCG and they stated that it is required by law to have that plate. They then told me that the manufacture must be able to provide that plate to me unless they are out of business. I contacted mastercraft and they said that they cannot do anything for me. I told them what the USCG said and they basically said sorry. After dealing so far with mastercraft i am not to happy with them at the moment. Any other suggestions?

Thanks for all the help and i hope that my mastercraft experience gets better

Write a letter to the dealer telling them that it is unlawful for you to operate without the capacity plate and quote the provision in your letter that requires a manufacturer to provide this. Request that MC provide one to you in accordance with that law. Tell them you will pay a reasonable fee for this service and thank them for their cooperation. Ask them to contact you if they have any questions. Their consistent refusal to comply with the law is probably one of those things you want to document in my opinion.

Not sure about your state, but in PA, you can get one from the state.

Was it because your boats were over 20 feet? A capacity plate is not required for vessels over 20 feet.

FWIW, 99 Maristar 210 VRS, has a capacity plate indicating 11 people or 1650 lbs, and the length is 20'-9" without swim deck.

Well guys here is the deal. I caleed National Marine Manufacturers assn and they told me that there is no way that i can get one. What he suggested i do is create one myself to look just like a real one and i should be good. So now here is my question. Can someone give me the actual size of the sticker. It would be very helpful. Thanks

What do the new 190's say? If the info is the same, maybe the MC dealer could order a new one for a 05 or something????
