Can anyone recommend a good dual purpose rope? I'll be doing both and I was wondering if I could get by with one.

But if I need to buy two I will, I'm just curious. Any suggesstions?

I mostly free ski, and I'll be learning to wakeboarding.

Thanks!

Gov - I would get a decent slalom rope with sections and use it to learn how to wake board. It would be best to get two different ropes - since a wakeboard rope has no stretch vs. a slalom rope that has a bit of stretch to it.
So for now get the slalom and ask for a wakeboard rope for X-mas!

Gov, I would not recommend using a non stretch rope for slalom skiing. I did this for one season and got some decent back problems to show from it. You really want a little give even if you are just free skiing.

You have a Mastercraft for goodness sakes....get two ropes....I have 1 slalom rope with slalom handle, 1 85' wakeboard rope and handle, and 2 75' matching wakeboard ropes and handles, (for pulling double skiers, kneeboarders, etc. ) and 1 80' wakeboard rope with a custom handle...you can never have enough good ropes and handles....let the deckboat guys change handles and use 1 rope....can you tell that I have an opinion? ;)

Thank you for all of the replies! I'll be getting several different ropes.....wake/ski/tow.

Any suggestions on brand?

Give Brenda at JBL Manufacturing (In Tow & Rip Cord) a try. Great ropes and handles.

Give Masterline a call.(1-800-889-9883) www.masterlineusa.com I have their 11-section Switch mainline and I love it. They have just about everything you need.

I completely agree about two ropes. Buy one VERY high quality handle if you would like, and switch ropes.

I bought a super high end handle with a slalom rope, then put that handle on a Accurate line as noted above. We don't slalom that often, so switching wasn't a huge deal.

I also suggest a piece of crap package for about thirty bucks for those days when a newbie is driving...so he can run over the POS rope in lieu of your $100.00 one.

I strongly suggest at least calling the guys at www.grizzly-sports.com. They sold me my ropes at less than the ebay deal above (same rope).
