View Full Version : Think this is too much color for the boat?

Im refinishing the gelcoat as we speak... What do you think about this as a new stripe instead of the normal stars/glitter?

I didnt have a good picture of my boat to photoshop so this is not my boat... Its sledhead800 boat (if you dont want this up ill take it down)

I just want some feed back. The top middle strip would be the same thing. and there would be stripes along the transom.

Hmmm, looks kind of incomplete(?) Since you're playing with photoshop, how would it look if it extended all the way up to the rub rail? Neat concept though... would definitely turn some heads on the lake.

I thought about that, but I guess I wanted to stay somewhat close to the original theme

Stay with the original metalflake.

ok, how about if the stars were more in a straight line like in the original stars and stripes. IMO that with the stripes would look cool.

Just restore it to the original.
What you have shown so far does not work...
Mrs. just told me that I shouldn't be so critical.
She said that whatever you like is what matters.

I think I would take the stars all the way back to the end of windshield. :twocents:

Bingo Stevo! I agree with your Mrs. I'd like to see something like this on the water, but it's not my style... I'm more a traditionalist.

I like it! If you are willing to go out on a limb on resale, then make it interesting. Your design looks classic and just seems to fit.

Its not too much.

Bring the stars a little further back, but I like it. A modern twist to a classic IMHO.

I saw a 74 on Ebay a few months back that had the 98 S&S Graphics which is simular to what you are showing. (like Farmers). It looked good and you may still be able to buy the graphics from MC.

With the stars the way you have them in the first picture.
Bring them back farther so you get 3 or 4 of them in the middle, not just one.
That way the stars will mach the twisting of the stripes, and you get more stars.

One more thing how do you know your not a MasterCraft addict.

When it does not say MasterCraft on the side of you boat.
If I saw that boat on the water would say what the hell is that a American Skier, it looks like a old MasterCraft.

I would go for orginal, or close to it. Well, except for the 86, that is the one in between year that I didn't care for the graphics. Sorry.

How about putting the 98 graphics on a 86.

My vote is to stay classic S & S. I love my boat, but there is something about the original S & S graphics scheme that is SOO classic and cool & I kinda wish my boat has the S & S look to it. I like my color scheme alot, but the S & S just demands repsect on the water(and everywhere else). Its so classic, its just a statement. :twocents:

You should be able to (depending on how much your dealer marks them up) pick up set of the 98 flag decals for $350. They still have them at HQ

The 98 decals look the slickest of the pitures so far. But if you go with the original design, I'd move the color all the way up to the rubrail, i.e., no white over the stars and stripes. Just my $.02.

Now I like that... and less work for me trying to design it. Ill find out on mon if they still sell those.....Great Idea, and I like the masetercraft on the side. The only prob would be the strip on the top....

Make the White stripe flexuate up and down and I think you have a winner, or I do like the second post pic.

Good Luck

Ok...my 2 cents, which isn't worth much.

Forget the stars and stripes and lay a flame job on that thing!!!

or...lay out the flames and then put the stars and stripes in the flames.

Sorry...That's something I've always wanted to do on my boat. I guess I've been doing hot rods for too long.

Count me in with the 98 graphics. I love it on the 98 anniversary boats, and I think it looks great on the older boat too, unless you're just trying to restore everything to original for resale value. With the newer graphics at least you won't see any other boats that look like yours.

Of course you could paint it orange and put a big "01" on the side ("away down yonder in the land of cotton"). :D

OR

How about a blue metalflake stripe down the center with the original MasterCraft wording and the original stars, but with red metalflake accent stripes above and below it (like the original, but using two colors instead of one). Wish I knew how to use Photoshop.

Hmmm...yeah, maybe that wouldn't be such a good idea to use stars and stripes with the flames. But I still think a flame job on a MC would look really good!
