Sorry not familiar with your particular boat... But can you get to the fuel pump relay? Feel it clicking? How long ago was the pump replaced?

Okay, I did have to swim it back to the dock... really hoping someone can help me diagnose. I replaced the fuel pump last summer. last week when I was out there were no issues. Now, whether it's idling or cruising, it cuts out and dies. sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesn't. the problem is power to the fuel pump - based on checking fuel pressure and hearing the pump spin. the weird thing is the the boat would sit and idle fine, not touch or move a thing, and then it would die. then it wouldn't start, then not touch or move a thing, and either 1 min, 5 min, 10 min later, without touching or doing anything, it would start. eventually it never started again and I got a good cardio workout... to me this rules out a bad ground or no connection???

That all said, would love some input. Michigan summer is nearing an end... if this requires a dealer drop off fix, summer is pretty much over for me...

Please help

I would start with cleaning connections and checking the relay.

Clean all connectors and check grounds. A gauge in the fuel line will show you fuel pump pressure at a glance. Fuel pump relay. I would just change it.

I'm going to replace the relay today, anyone have part #'s so I can grab one at a local autoparts store?

Thanks

There are 3 relay switches at the front of the motor, on top, behind the "information plate". pull one and take it to the parts store. $15. buy a spare.

Just because you replaced the fuel pump last year does not mean it has not gone out again...I would not rule it out.

Talked with JimN the other day( in another thread ) , and he said make sure it has a diode.

the one I purchased at NAPA does not have the diode. but the one from skidim does.

Im haveing the same problems. my shuts off the fuel.

IM going to go thru all my ground connections this weekend.

the one i bought from a local parts store looks to be identical to the 3 that came with boat. i have been running it for a year with no problems.

just following up, bought a relay from NAPA, it was actually the EFI relay that still somehow controls power to the fuel pump... put a couple hours on it today, ran like a top.... thanks everyone...

also, I have two spares on order from skidim

On a car the pcm\efi system is what runs the relay for the fuel pump... I would assume it would be the same on a boat. So your faulty efi relay was in a way affecting the fuel pump directly.

Good info, thanks. I may pick up some spare relays myself

I'm having the exact same problems with my '05 Maristar. Do you have part numbers that you can share? Replaced fuel pump and all. The main thing I noticed is the inconsistancy in the pump running when I turn the ignition. It usually takes a second or two to engage if it does it at all. I need to save my summer!

The NAPA part is AR153SB $15.84 including taxes

Good luck!
