I noticed yesterday when pulling my boat out of the water that the tongue looked different. Some sort of a cap was missing. Does anyone know what this is and where I might be able to find a replacement?

Yep just a rubber cap that is the access port for the master cylinder,

Wow! That was easy! Has anyone tried the lockout upgrade for this cap? Does this allow you to disconnect the five pin plug while backing in the water without the brakes locking up?

I just tried the lockout cap this weekend. My results were lackluster. When backing up it would pop back into the center position which allows the breaks to work. I ended up using the lockout key on the side to prevent the brakes from engaging.

So for $8.99 I would call it a dud.

Just go with the plastic cap. Very inexpensive. You can order a new lock out key in case you need it.

Where is the lock out key on the tongue. On my old trailer we would stick a quarter in a hole on the tongue if we were having trouble with the brakes locking up. Are the newer ones the same?

Also, I have recently lost all four of my rear tail lights. Is this because I have been keeping the wires connected to the car when loading and unloading. I thought I had to do this because of the braking system connected with the wires, but it sounds like this is not the case and that I can use this lock out key instead.

Did I most likely burn out the lights and thus need to replace them or do you think I may have shorted a wire in the wiring on the trailer? Any thoughts?

The key goes in the slot on the side of the tongue. Check wiring on the lights, maybe bad ground etc. To lose all 4 lights points to wiring.

Thanks for the help. I think I found a key on the above link from Pacific Trailers. I love this site!

I use a c-clamp to lock out the brakes.
