I stumbled across this while doing research at work. (Wasting time and dreaming).

I thought you you may be interested in checking out this boat that is for sale.

I'm disappointed. I was sure it was going to be "just an old plywood boat, 75 Johnson, electric choke." (some of you Instink and Backseat Boys fans aren't going to get that).

I love the line "Come in and save big off or (sic) MSRP", just $59,600. Save big compared to what? It looks like a really nice boat (although I'm not too fond of the stripe), but that's a pretty good markup.

Like you, I fully expected to see sawdust in lieu of carpet.

Good looking boat though (apart from the stripe).

/haven't heard a good C/W song since I was a kid.

I saw that a while ago. Didnít give it a second look because of that stripe. And the price looked a little rough. I do like, um, itís a MasterCraft:headbang:

Stripe is not my favorite either... for $60k you would think they could center it on the boat. Ha. Also, the windshield apears to "open"... is this to allow a breeze to come through the boat

At first, I thought it'd be the plywood boat, but if you know the song, that boat met its end 'cause the wood got rotten...

That price is rediculous! Im not feeling the racing stripe either......

At least he was using a MC. In one of his videos he was "skiing" behind a Nautique. In jeans, a plaid shirt and his cowboy hat.

This must be his second lake house, this is listed in MI, he has a huge house on Center Hill Lake in TN that you can drive by on the main channel. He is the only private dock on the lake if that tells you something.

The phrase "totally custom" generally means "warning ugly", but I have enough money to make it suite my ugly tastes.

About 10 years ago, they had his boat at the Vancouver Boat Show. It was a Nautique with a green stripe. and teak all over it. Evidently it was the same one used in the Way Down On The Chatahoochee video.

It was a sweet boat.

I recall seeing a PS190 with a scoop on top of an enlarged engine box to accomodate the 8.1L. Easier to hide one of those monsters in an XStar. Cubic inches, baby !!!!!!

In 1992 or 1993 Correct Craft produced the "PARAGON" ski Nautique. Many where SOLD over seas. The King of Jordan purchased 2 of them. Mahogany upper deak. Teak floor BEAUTIFUL boat. The hull was a DARK GREEN.

http://www.correctcraftfan.com/diaries/details.asp?ID=1173

Over the next couple of years you could CUSTOM order a Paragon from CC. It was a AWESOME looking boat. Did not know till tonight that they made a RED one.

But....it will NEVER rival a limited edition anniversary 197

That Paragon is a beautiful boat! As I understand, only 11 were built.

But very high maintaince. Something tells me it would even be too high for our Harold to keep up with.

Harold, dont read that article, the part about the 12 coats of varnish on the teak floor may be too much for you.

Begs the question (to me at least)...how hard would it be to "convert" my carpeted floor to some teak decking? I think it's kind of a neat look. I did it to an old fishing boat once - instead of plywood, I got some decking boards (the wood/plastic stuff) from Menards and created a deck for a floor. What issue would one have to think about doing something like this?

Not that difficult, but not that practical either!

Not that difficult, but not that practical either!

I foresee a lot of "no skis or other equipment on the floor" rules with a teak floor. I'd stick with carpet, too.

Chas
01-03-2008, 12:59 PM
I had an all-plastic boat years ago which had snap-in carpet. I wonder if that would work for somebody who wanted to keep a nice-looking wood deck fresh?

Put the carpet in when using the boat, take it out when showing it off?

The underside of the carpet would have to be nice enough not to do its own damage to the wood surface, of course, and I would think that you would have to take it out to let everything dry after a day on the water.

Sodar
01-03-2008, 01:03 PM
Yeah, my buddy has a teak and holly floor in his Hallett ( A West Coast Custom Boat Builder). I think I have seen his snap in carpet out of the boat once. The floor gets hot and slippery, but it does look damn sweet!

01-03-2008, 01:32 PM
Back in the mid 80s, I would spend about a week at the lake each summer with some friends of ours. My buddy's dad would pull us around the lake for hours on end behind their old Deckboat brand I/O. When we'd stop at the marina for gas, all of us younger types would flock into the showroom and drool over the Kayot. That thing was so fancy, we thought, because it had a nice tape deck and CARPET.

No...it's pretty funny, ATL's right. It's winter now, and if all TT threads eventually converge on teak, are we really on Teak Talk? Is it a sign of the apocalypse?

Fact is, teak is the only part of my boat I have access to, in the house. Now if I can only restart my finishing project. Darn hardware store did NOT have the proper grades of sandpaper. How is that possible? It's a hardware store !!!

Anyway, wasn't there another nice looking Alan Jackson boat, a MC, older than the 197, that was pretty nice too! Just to unthreadjack myself.

It is a pretty boat - I own a 1993 Paragon and I love it. Was searching for it since I was 17 yrs old and finally found one. It only has 163 hours on it but we're hoping to use it more once our kids are older. We consider offers to sell it every year however I fear we'll regret it once it's gone.

I would post pictures but I can't figure out how to do that. I'm looking for other paragon owners to share stories, pictures, etc.... so far, I think another one lives in Wisconsin and perhaps one other in Illinois somewhere.
