View Full Version : X15 Wake

Looking to get into a new boat. We board and surf. No skiing any more. Many positive comments about the X15 on here. I am trying to find an X15 to ride behind, but I wanted to get the opinion of folks who have them or ride behind them. I ride behind a PF X-star and a 205V as a frame of reference.

How wide is the wake? Looking for a wake narrower than the PF X-star.

How steep is the wake?

How much ballast do you use? I know this is quite subjective. But I was trying to get a feel for how much you have to sink the boat to get a good wake. The PF X-star is a great wake after a few thousand pounds. I was curious if the X15 also required significant ballast to get a good lip on the wake.

How far is Cary, NC from Charlotte? Go see Lee at Charlotte Ski Boats and I'm sure he will get you behind an X15 to see first hand.

not sure if this helps you at all but here is a video of my 2010 X-15 with stock ballast full and 2 people in the boat. Riding at 24mph at 70ft.

only video I have of a surf wake is my son on his knees on the starboard side. Stock ballast with about 6 people in the boat. I've heard with a sack in the rear locker and one in the bow the surf wake gets real nice. I'm planning on getting the V-Drive Surf Package from wakemakers.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Just upgraded from a ps190 to a new x-15 the wake with just stock ballast and my wife and three year old is really good to wakeboard behind. I just now started trying to surf, so i dont have anything to compare it to but in the three weeks that i have had the x-15 to seems to be a great all around boat. The ski wake is not to bad either if you get that urge to break out the ski and play. I agree with JohnE go talk to Lee down at Charlotte Ski boats, good people down there. He helped me decide on a 25 or 15.

I like it even with just stock ballast. When I'm feeling crazy I put a 400 sac in each v drive locker, and a 750 in the bow. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa23/AricBrabec/826f81bc.jpg
Disregard the was on the port side. I was turning.
I havent figured out the surf wake so this is all I've got.

Thanks everyone. That is helpful.

Anyone have a comparison regarding the width of the wake compared to a PF X-star or X-25?

Narrower than an X-Star definitely, slightly wider than the 25 though I believe
